As for cases, there are tons of them. Any of the mid-towers that let you remove an HDD cage will fit pretty much any card on the market. I've really liked my C70 and they've been on sale pretty regularly for $80ish on Newegg and Amazon.

Unfortunately the lower bays where the GPU is located is not only metal but it is welded/stamped in place and the upper half of the tower bay is plastic. So I guess my future is being foretold and I am getting the Sapphire 3L or maybe the MSI 7950 version which is also shorter...

Does anyone know which is the shortest 7950 (under 11") that I can get to fit my mid tower case that will oc to ~1200 and accept H2O??

Have you considered the GTX 670.

Its a short little sweet card under water.

One 4 GB GTX 670 at least will work. Did a 5 minutes research.

I'm in same boat as OP. Did you decide on a 670 or a 7950?

Saturday I bought a 7870 XT Powercolor Myst Edn that was recommended in another thread. Regarding the games, I have Crysis 2 so I wanted to try something different like Tomb Raider and Bioshock.

I truly wanted the 7950-2L, but I couldn't pass on the price/performance + having to modify my case to make 7950 fit. The 670 was too much money so I went with the next best thing.

Final price was $208 on Newegg with a $30 promo code thumb.gif

Wow, that is awesome! I hope there are PCBs and waterblocks like this with the upcoming GTX 7xx Nvidias. Gives reason to find a mini-itx case that doesn't fit cards over 7-8," just to have a smaller footprint.

slick40hk, I wish you well with that 7870 XT. You should have zero problems playing modern games at 1080p with full detail. You got a great deal too! Just keep an eye on GPU temperatures, and run a program like MSI Afterburner to setup a good fan profile.
