I suppose a 965BE @ 4.0-4.2Ghz and a OC 550Ti would be a good upgrade, but you might could find a little better on the Used market.

Actually chieftec is pretty know because they make really really much psu's and your answer did not include that will 965BE 550TI run on 500w ?

Replacing your CPU will have little effect and not worth the risk of not being able to OC much higher then what you have right now. Believe it or not but lack of system ram can also cause frame drops. I had one of my memory sticks die out of of my 6gb I had I was left with only 4GB. Pretty easy to run out of room with only 4gb total, skyrim was a slideshow unless I closed out of some background programs that ate up ram. BF3 would have more frame drops then before as well, now I have 16gb and all is good again. In fact its better then when I had 6gb, smoother game play with less drops. 8GB would really free you up in that regards.

As for your CPU I once had a athlon II x3 that I unlocked into a phenom II x4 which I then OCed to 3.6ghz and sold to a buddy of mine a few months later. Now all he had at the time was a 9800gt and still he could play GTA4 fine, not max settings of course but it was smooth enough for me to play on it. I had to help him through a couple of missions and never really had a problem with it other then a frame drop every now and then.

First off I would question the game settings your using. Make sure to keep your eye on available ram and v-ram, go over what you have and performance becomes crap.

As for upgrades
your HDD is slow as balls get a SSD
you could use a boost in memory size
a new GPU like I said before a 7870xt or 7950 (both of these don't need a powerful PSU even the CX430 is more then enough for ether card)

I'm with others on replacing the PSU.... you wouldn't believe that crazy stuff that can happen with a flaking/flakey PSU. I've had it happen to me.... poor performance when loaded due to voltage drops. Even the "rocketfhish" brand 600W PSU from BestBuy would probably suit your needs biggrin.gif.

The 5850/5870 cards while not the newest generation, they can still hold thier own on games of today. My 5850 at 900/1250 did very well biggrin.gif. I just sold my 5850's and 5970 frown.gif. The 7870 is a good option too. However, Bang for buck a used GTX 480, 570, or 560 Ti 448 would serve you very well thumb.gif

I'm more of a ATI guy than NVIDIA, so could you suggest a ati gpu with 965BE or 955BE with 500w psu.

First off forget the chips you picked out, if you want a new CPU get a AMD Phenom II X4 960T or get one of the 6 core versions. What you listed are Deneb based cores while the 960t and 6 core chips are thuban based. Thuban offers slight IPC gain and overall higher avg overclocks.

As for a card without getting a new PS. First off forget any old tech, so the gtx5xx and hd69xx are out of the question. Only 7xxx and 6xx and higher, must be a 28nm chip. For low power the 7870 non XT is a pretty good card, though I would still get the 7870xt for only $250 bucks you get two games and a card with awesome OC capabilities. Don't worry about power usage as even with the 7870xt + 960t your still using less then 300watts internally, hell I bet with a power meter you would only pull around 280-300watts from the wall. FROM THE WALL, 300watts from the wall is only 240watts internal and thats if you have a efficient PSU would probably be lower then that with your PSU. Even though your 500watt PS isnt the best, your won't be anywhere near 500watts. In Fact a lot of people over estimate PS requirements so don't feel bad that your worked up over it.

7850 or 7870 can be had for really cheap. Here's my question though for you, what's your RAM usage at? Your games could be fighting with windows for RAM access and only being DDR2 1066 its not really that fast. Honestly I would keep the CPU as others have said it would be a minimal upgrade to a 965BE. I would recommend getting a new PSU, GPU (7850 or 7870) and getting more RAM. Also something to think about is how fast that mechanical drive is, you could pick up a 7200RPM 500GB WD Black series for under $100 (or equivalent from other brand).

960T shouldn't be so high priced, another problem is my really really low budget so can you suggest a "powerful" cpu from http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M2N68_PLUS/#support_CPU <-- And a lowbudget gpu smile.gif
