I can't complain that it's the same engine since that happened with Bad Company 1 and 2. However if the same engine is used in a BF game AFTER BF4 I shall give up on all future FPSes completely.
They "Just' finished Frostbike 2.0 within the last year and a half. Of course they will continue to use the engine. What's good about the Frostbite engine is the scale ability, It can handle ALOT of destruction, players, high detail, ect. However our CPU's and GPU's are "just" getting to the area that FB 2.0 can shine. Most likely they will do a FB 2.5 adding better textures and advancements to the engine.
You realize how much money, and years of programming and creating it takes to create a game engine right? To make it a little clearer at how engines improve over time. BC1 was Frostbite 1.0, BC2 had Frostbite 1.5, BF 3 used Frostbite 2.0, and most likely we will see a Frostbite 2.5 improvement for Battlefield 4. A game engine is a ever expanding beast, there is limitations, but they evolve over years of creating. That's a reason Unreal 4 is nearly completed. Unreal 3 was released in 2004, and still produces some great gameplay and visuals.
