Paint Removal - I've made a mistake

Thread Starter
Hi! I have a Corsair Vengeance C70, and because I misjudged on the color paint I was using, I need some help removing it! I'm using Rustoleum's Painter's Touch Ultra Cover Deep Blue spray paint, and I haven't done any sanding on the paint job yet. The paint job itself is also pretty thick. How can I remove the paint without damaging the original case's paint? Here's what it looks like right now.

Thanks!

Heheh. I'd rather not, to be honest. Is there a cheap way to go about this?

You can sand/acetone it off very carefully and by taping off the rest of the parts you don't want touched. It will be difficult and take some time but it is possible.

If you're just using spray paint (not sure, but it sounds like it), isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) should strip it right off without damaging the original paint on the panels. Just soak a cloth in alcohol in a well ventilated area, and it should pretty much just wipe right off. If that doesn't work, try nail polish remover in a small inconspicuous area to make sure it doesn't damage the case paint first, and that'll definitely do it.

At this point you are going to have to strip the paint either with sanding / chemicals / blast media or you can even try a heat gun and repaint it with OEM spec paint.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm using nothing but spray paint, so I'll see how isopropyl alcohol works.

The easiest thing to do would be to just do a light sand with 800 grit then tape off with masking tape and hit it with a few coats of what ever color you want to change it too, too easy! thumb.gif
