Please help me pick a gaming monitor

Thread Starter
Hi about 2 weeks I bought the BenQ GW2450HM. I was and still am highly impress by the colors this monitor can produce this is my first MVA panel I have always used TN panels in the past. I have been using it for about 2 weeks and while I do like it very much I do not like it for gaming as the overdrive feature produces some artifacts and flickering on completely black colors and white colors on dark scenes. This is with overdrive set to premium which is its highest setting. If I lower the overdrive to high it goes away but then I have allot lag and screen tearing which makes the game unplayable for me. I play allot of FPS and RPG games and while I only have this problem with FPS I am thinking of returning this monitor but I really do not want to go back to a TN panel. I would like to get 27'' MVA panel with low response time of 2ms but I think this does not exists yet so I think I have no choice but to go back to a TN panel. I have been looking at few 120hz and 144hz but do not know which one stands out of the crowd. Please someone recommend me a really good gaming monitor that is from 300 to 500 range ?

Thanks

The ASUS VG248QE looks like a really nice TN panel, OCN also has a big thread for it here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1331478/new-asus-vg248qe-144hz-1ms-tn-1080p smile.gif

Also, I'm sure you've tried, but have you turned an V-sync to get rid of the tearing in games?

Yea I tryed that and while it took the tearing alway I still see allot of motion blur. I would like to buy a 120hz or 144hz panel but I have a few questions hope someone can please answer them. I would like to get a 120hz or 144hz panel as I mainly just use my pc for web and gaming. I am planing on returning my the GW2750 but I only have a few days left and need to make a decision as soon as possible on which new monitor I will be replacing it with.

1. Is there a a big differnce from 120hz to 144hz and which one is better ?

2. What would you guys recommend to be the best 27'' panel that I can buy right now that has the least motion blur and good colors ?

3. I saw the xl2720t just got released would that be my best option or should I get an asus panel ?

Thanks

I've also been looking at the xl2720t - seems really promising, but haven't read anything concrete on it yet. I'll probably be picking one up if the reviews are solid.

Agreed. biggrinsmiley.gif

I'm been very happy with mine. And given the price, it's quite a bargain, IMO.

Well after allot of debating I decided to take the plunge and ordered the BenQ XL2720T. I hope it does not disappoint and the TN panel can perform the best it can within its constraints. I should received it next week so will post my impression once I had some time with it. At $500 dollars it better be one hell of a gaming monitor . . .
