Will Technica ATH-AD700 work with DTS?

Quick question,

If I bought a pair of Technica ATH-AD700 or any other high end headphones, will the surround sound work on a onboard sound chip that doesn't have Dolby Digital Live (DDL) but has DTS Interactive like an P8Z77-V??

DDL/DTS Interactive is for encoding 5.1 surround on the fly over optical to another device. You want Dolby Headphone or Creative's CMSS-3D, which I believe is only available on dedicated sound cards.

I believe DTS has a headphone surround sound feature, it's called DTS-Surround, not sure if it comes with your motherboard's audio or how good it is.
But DTS is coming out with an 11 point (10.1?) headphone surround sound technology in the near future.

An Asus Xonar DG sound card, $27, will provide Dolby Headphone 5.1 surround sound.

I'd be surprised if 10.1 coming through stereo sounded much different than 5.1 through stereo.

But yea, Asus DG or DGX (same thing but PCIe) is the cheapest

I have no idea, on the DTS Interactive, so far have found very little info on it.
Best you could do is set the Realtek control panel to Audio Channel 5.1 or 7.1 and enable any "Headphone" setting. and see how it sounds.
