Why did you choose 670/680 over 7950/7970 - Page 2

I bought mine before the 12.11 drivers, but in the grand scheme of things, who cares? We all have our favorites even though all that is honestly separating them is just a few fps in price brackets. It flip-flops every generation. Just get what you want. The sheer amount of arguing on this forum for which is better is insane. People buy what they want and are perfectly fine with it.

Bought this 680 Lightning after 12.11beta and the TR latency article, sold my previous 7950:

Reason:
1.I didn't like any of the 7970 SKU avaliable on Newegg for one reason or another (loud/reference blower/voltage locked/2year warranty/single link DVI) at the time of my purchase, the only one I liked (Matrix Platinum) was & still is out of stock.

2. The TR latency articles.

3. I use Freemake Video Converter a lot to encode or merge videos and it have CUDA acceleration.

4. My previous 7950 didn't overclock that well, it was voltage locked.

5. Irritated with the long delay between WHQL drivers( 3 month between 12.10 WHQL & 13.1 WHQL, 2month plus since 13.1 and no since of the next WHQL).

Picked my 670 up for $330 new. I had a 7850 about 6-7 months ago before the big AMD update. I didn't have any problems with it, but I just needed more performance so I sold it. My last Nvidia was a 8800 GTS 512MB so I said why not!

I had a lot of trouble getting xfire 6950s to work (now that I look back I should have asked here) and I bought a 670 on day one, may 10 2012. I now have two and couldn't be happier. I still think that my 670s trump 7970s because of folding performance, drivers, and power consumption.

Not anymore.

Have you used a 7970 lately?

No offense, but when amd releases a new beta driver that breaks opengl.. then is forced to rush out another new beta driver to fix it. I still think Nvidia has better drivers. Neither is perfect.. but still.
and having owned amd for 3 years now... this isn't their first time breaking opengl.

Hence why its called beta.

Nobody force you to try beta drivers. 13.1 WHQL has no openGL broken and 13.3 beta 3 repairs Open GL two days later, thats fast response.

And Nvidia Throttling lately on everything? Titan Throttling? Firmware ? Both camp have their mistakes. But usually, Nvidia don't speak out loud of the troubles. While as soon as AMD has a broken something in driver, lets yell it on top of the houses.

NVidia+ Tomb Raider = You decide.

Calling it beta is a pathetic excuse for breaking things that weren't broken.
Nvidia+tombraider = runs better than amd.

I didn't say either were perfect, but after 3 years of dealing with their drivers I get tired of it.
Maybe they are way better now. 13.2 beta 6 is pretty good. 13.3 not so good. hence the reason many are rolling back.

With currently released drivers from both sides which optimize for TR:

But we are getting derailed.. this is why did people choose the 670/680 which seems to be worse price/perf
I am interested in reasons for doing so.
