Need device for recording music

Hi, I know basically nothing about recording audio, the only experience I have is throwing a USB mic in the middle of the room and clicking record on Audacity, but I wanna go a more "professional" route. I have a Yamaha DTX 520k (electronic drums) that has a midi-out and stereo 1/4 inch output jacks, and guitars. How could I go about recording these on my PC? Win 7, available PCI and PCIe slots, Firewire and USB3 are available.

how much money do you want to spend?

Cheapest solution is to grab a sound card that allows those connections.

My old x-fi fatality card allows for those kinds of inputs for recording. However I wouldn't suggest it for serious recordings as there are far better higher quality solutions.

After some messing around, I found out I can use my line-in for recording, it works well on my guitar, but it has passive pickups, dunno how it'd do for actives. The drums also sound okay, but ASIO4ALL is a bit of a pain, like when I wanna use multiple sound sources. What's a good free program for recording and editing audio?
