What 670 style cooler for SLI

Thread Starter
Hey i am in the market for a 670 and i know i will SLI later down the road so should i opt for this:
http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=02G-P4-2678-KR
It has the blower style cooler that expells the heat from the case.

Or should i opt for some dual fan cooler like this one ?
http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N670-PE-2GD5-OC.html

Any thoughts and help would be appreciated thanks smile.gif

For air cooling an SLI setup you want to use cards that exhaust air out of the back.

Def exhaust for SLI setup (kind of noisy, though) . ..

Or, if you have the case for it, you could do The Mod(tm) and cool both with individual Antec 620's ... (a fairly easy mod to do and silent, and the best temps you can possibly get, bar none, and...like I said, if you have the case for it, can mount the radiators to blow the hot air out of the case) ...

just insatalled my second 670 today, and both of them are reference (blower style gpu's)...and i can say i've not had any problems before when i was using just one,now that im using sli my temps are (top card 65c and bottom card 60c) while playing BF3 or even Crysis 3..and i have a 650D Which isnt a case with the best airflow..lol..so i would go with the blower stlyed gpu's..

This indead, and you can also SLI with no problem. No air cooler will give you this kind of performance.

Wont "the mod" woid my warranty on the card(s), and do you even think i could make room for it in a small case like the Fractal Arc Mini smile.gif?

And thanks for all the feedback guys i really appreciate it! smile.gif

With that case, I'd avoid The Mod(tm) unless you are a mechanical genius. ;-)

And I'm not sure about warranty issues. All it requires is that you remove the reference cooler. Whether that voids the warranty or not, I don't know; otherwise, I have no idea how they could tell. I've RMA'd/warrantied several coolers in the past that I had removed the stock coolers on (to change thermal compound, etc.) and there were never issues with the warranty process.

But the point is moot as it would be hard to cram two Antec 620's in to that case (especially ensuring both are exhaust oriented) ...

Best of luck; you should just go with reference "blower" style cards for the Fractal Mini...

i wouldnt think so since all you are doing is removing the HS and putting another one. It's like buying an aftermarket cooler and replacing the stock one with it. (again, i *would not think*) Im not 100% sure doh.

As for the case you could always mod even more and just grab a slim 240mm rad, put it on top and make a small loop with both antec 620, you can even add a small rad if you want for praticity or use a T-line only. I did that with my 6970s and they stay under 55C playing Metro 2033 with very high ambiant temp.
