Need help on overclocking- Sapphire HD 7970 OC

Thread Starter
Hello all,

I got this GPU, on the 5th Jan this year. And i guess it is still not that old yet. Although the HD 7970 is manufactured and released in 2011, i really like to overclock this GPU.

I know a bit of overclocking, but not a lot. Hope anyone else out there can help me.

Currently, i am raising the memory and core clock by 15 increments and test the temps and whether if i get artifacts or not. (I guess overvolting and high temps above 80 would potentially damage it??...)

Still at 985 GPU Clock and 1445 Memory Clock. (950 Mhz GPU Clock and 1425 Memory Clock - Stock)

Thanks smile.gifthumb.gif

What OC software are you using ?? For sapphire cards, the sapphire Trixx is the best software. Also, test for stability using Heaven 4.0 Valley 1.0 and 3D Mark. After a run, try games that you play. If it makes it through, you have a fairly sucessful overclock. If it doesn't, then increase the vcore by .05v. Some people have made it to 1200 vcore on stock voltages so expect something similar.
