3570k + H60

Thread Starter
So i'm getting some wonky temps, first of all speedfan keeps picking up this one temp that oscilates from -120C to 127C not sure so i used RealTemp and still when under load my cpu still hits nearly 90C. I feel for a brand new chip this is really hot.

So i'm running a Node 304 Case
Gigabyte GA-Z77N-WIFI
3750K (Stock)
Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
H60 Cooler (in push-pull)
MSI GTX 660

I realize that the case is small and maybe i need to add another vent in the top or something and do a straight exhaust out of that.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

tongue.gif thanks

90C does seem very high for a 3570K running at stock, especially with an aftermarket cooler. Maybe try reseating the cooler to make sure it isn't a wonky mounting? Adding some case fans for airflow (if you have none) might be a good idea, but that still doesn't explain temps that high running at stock speeds.

Only problem is that there isn't much airflow i think because of the design limitations and i probably should have gotten a blower gfx card instead of the frozr msi style

Try and check your cooler mounting, and if the thermal paste is properly applied, those are some high temps for stock

You don't have a good seat or your pump isn't plugged in. Did that once..

if it cools down fast once the load is reduced is it a pump or is it the seating of the pump?

All CPUs will drop temperature almost instantly as soon as they are not at load. I don't think you can say definitively either way, but I'd still lean towards a poorly seated block. If the pump wasn't active, that's basically the equivalent of strapping a piece of copper to your chip and expecting it to stay cool - it would reach thermal shutdown very quickly.

OK I'm thinking it might be the block will take it off tonight, i notice the only real application where i get that high is CSGO all the others don't get above 60, but i feel that is high as well. If I'm reseating the block i should stop by and get some thermal paste right?

I recently built a system for a friend with a 3750k and the Antec H20, very similiar to the H60 and i got it to 4.5Ghz with a +offset of something like 0.01v ..so it ran pretty cool at around 60-65C during IBT runs and a bit less during P95.

Id try reseating the HSF...maybe you forgot to take off the plastic sticker ? smile.gif
post #10 of 14
90C is like full load with the stock cooler if the CPU is at stock..that's definitely not good. If you reseat you need to re-apply paste. Don't be afraid to get it nice and tight, I tighten my H80 down with a screw driver.
For airflow, if you only have 1 fan make sure it's in push, not pull. Either mount it as intake and have some exhaust or mount it as an exhaust. You shouldn't have any problems.

Also look in your BIOS for temps. It'll just be idle but correlate those temps with speedfan, speedfan might need calibrating. It's also quite possible for speedfan to pick up nonsense temps from sensors that aren't being used. For the most part just pay attention to the 4 core temps.
