Except you are not taking into account that our taxes are the lowest they have been in 20 years. They already decreased revenue, they need to bring it back up to pre-taxcut levels. It is also un wise to worry about a debt(deficit) while in a recession. As the govt cuts spending, jobs are eliminated and more people spend less, ie subsequent decrease in economic cashflow, leading to further recession. Worry about the deficit when the economy is half way OK and people have jobs. This Deficit focus is garbage, they are leading everyone around by their noses. lol
I also think the govt needs to re-allocate what is spent where and trim the fat A LOT, but they do need to increase income, not just from us or sales tax, the rich and super profitable companies also.

Middle class Americans know how to manage their income, why can't the federal government.
I agree with the necessity to spend more intelligently, but the reality is that spending cuts are not going to reduce the negative imbalances in state and federal governments to 0. Unless you want a complete breakdown of basic services, which is what they are alluding to anyhow... The federal govt is over extended and cannot pay for all the services it currently provides. Instead of cutting certain services they cut teaching jobs (one of the first cuts) which is just dumb. They need to cut services and
increase revenue. However voters are not OK with either measure. Everyone wants to eat the cake three times...
Also, middle class Americans don't try to feed half the people living in their neighborhood, support the armed services, and regulate international trade. Sort of like comparing managing Microsoft to managing a corner deli... Not really apt
Edit@ Flynn.. I realize golf is a stupid expenditure, however, The federal govt does not determine who gets NSF funds, the members of each respective board at NSF do. If they cut funds to NSF then we have REAL PROBLEMS.
