Hit the rear at a 90 degree angle, not 45. Tank physics in this game apply to real life armor. It's probably the most realistic system in this game, beside the tanks feeling like jello. Another good fact about tanks and other armor, for the love of god please point your gun in the direction you want to exit your vehicle.
