I went from a BB Bold (8900) to an atrix, to this 920.
My wife went from over 4 years of iPhone to the 920. She really liked the 920, but her company got bought out and the new one only allows work email to be obtained on an iPhone. So she went back to the iPhone. She said there were some things that she likes better on the W8P and vice versa.
I, myself, am going to see what the next wave of Android devices brings to the table. If I think I will like them more, I will buy one. Right now I have my eyes set on the one M7.
I do like the screen on the 920. The camera is incredible, and the battery life is really good. The GPS works great, and the keyboard for typing is by far the best I have used on any phone platform. I am able to type on it almost as fast as I could on my BB.
At the same time I miss some of the apps (mostly mobile banking and such) that I had on my Android device. There are also a couple of little things that bother me about the interface of the W8P. At the same time, there are some things that I like more too. Every device is going to have these pluses and minuses.
My personal suggestion, is find the top 5, or so, things that are most important to you in a phone. Find the platform that does that the best and go with it. They are all solid devices now. It isn't so lopsided like it was 5 years ago.
Hope that helps!!
Thanks Shlunky, nice name btw.
I agree with you about the camera on the 920, incredible. I can take outdoor nightime photos without it looking like a took a photo in the middle of snoop doggs house amidst a cloud of smoke. The screen and the build quality feel amazing too. I found out one of my probs the other day was that the phone refused to let me upload pics to fb the way I did on my iPhone which was signing in, tapping the photo option, choose photo, etc etc. The only way I can upload them on this phone, is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much faster and simpler. Just tap the option on the photo and BAM!
I do miss the holding down your finger on the screen to save an image though, but not a deal breaker.
I don't like the music player, just to weird and confusing and wish I could swap out. But I'm starting to get back into pandora again so for the time being it's fine.
I wish there were an easier way to close out apps than having to hit the back button a bazzillion times, but this is not a deal breaker either.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the tile system, best and most fun feature ever!
This phone seems to have more connection issues than my iphone had.
I love the ability to decide what I can access from the lock screen.
Is there a way to search through a video better online than the skip buttons? This annoys me. Also, half the time videos have a problem playing, whereas on my iphone it was fine.
I think I may have some sort of a connection problem, trying to find out, but between school, my kid, wife, and my me time it's tough.
Anyway, those are some of the things that annoy me and that I love about the phone. Overall I love the physical phone, so beautiful (I have a white one) I would feel like I was hiding it if I put a case on it, but I know that I should. The phone has a nice weighty sophisticated feel to it, I really want to learn and like WP8 just so I can keep the phone itself. Camera is very important to me since I have a kid and I can't carry the expensive Canon DSLR around with me everywhere I go, hell even at home it seems like the battery in that thing doesn't last too long until it needs another charge.
