the spare slots dont bother me as i dont run any peripheral cards except an old wifi g card just on the rare occasion i need to use my phones wifi hotspot when cable internet is down but i can always USB tethering for this. anyways im more towards the asus card now still seen alot of good things bout the msi but asus cards just seem so solid... can you buy aftermarket back plates as im thinking this thing might flex like hell... i mean an 11 inch card just sitting in there .. alot of weight.
on a side note im seriously thinking.. "should i just save for a 7970 asus DCU and be done with it"? i mean would so rather not spend that much but i am saving so what is 2-4 more weeks saving?
BTW +rep for the help mate i like to know various sides of the story smile.gif
2nd edit just i just help you lose your rep virginity!!!? lol jk

Does not flex at all. It has a huge brace running along the length of the PCB, causing the cooler to stay more structured with the PCB. I'll add a quick photo of my rig with one. It doesn't flex a bit. I've used that thing that you use to check if it was straight, and the bubble was straight in the middle.

Mine is a 7870 V2, sorry for the confusion but it looks like a V1 your cooler is much bigger and uses more PCI slots arent the V1's like that?
