How are the quality of the materials used in the msi, and the asus, as well as the sapphire.

MSI TFIII 7950 reporting in here.

A few things I have to say about my card.

-Overclocks like a beast, like many have said. I hit 1200/1500 with a mere 1.113V
-7970 PCB
-Metal fan shroud is nice
-2 slot design instead of 3, unlike the ASUS DCUII

What I don't like about it however, is that the TFIII cooler is pretty bad compared to some of the better coolers out there (GB Windforce, ASUS DCUII)
The 80mm fans are loud, and don't do a great job of cooling.

Overall however, I do like this card, mainly because it overclocks so well. A word of caution though, I don't think many retailers are still shipping TFIII 7950's with 7970 PCB's.

i would place the cooling ability and performance potential of the PCS+7970 in the neighborhood of the Lightning 7970. and the PCS+ 7950, probably a little better or just as good as the TF3 7950

dosent really matter about the 7970 pcb on the OC side i think. mine is a 7950 PCB and its really a good clocker. 1200 core at 1.21v

The 7970 PCB provides better power delivery, and as you can see, I hit the same core clock as you with 100mV less.

In my batch of 7950's specifically, all the ASIC values were also binned very high. There are a couple of us on OCN with near identical cards (85-90% ASIC)

I would say pretty much the same unless you bought a lightning or any top-tier card.
Except that i trust sapphire or gigabyte (Strangely can't find any Radeon GB cards here recently anymore) more because i didn't really have any problems. If a MSI card does die there RMA has become a PITA.

What makes you say that? I plan on getting mine at frys or either newegg. You hear anything about that?

Yep, since the release of the newer Boost Edition, the 6+8 pin PCB has been gotten less and less. Its hard to see with all these PCB changes, but like a Korean IPS, its a risk, and if you get a 6+6, you may have to just live with it.

HIS 7950 IceQ X2 also slightly different to 7970 reference.
Newest Revision of Gigabyte HD 7950 has a 8+6 Pin PCB, however it is not a reference 7970 PCB and may not work with waterblocks (Not guaranteed)
MSI 7950 TFIII (Not Guaranteed)
VTX3D 7950 (Some models)
Sapphire 7950 950 MHZ edition (Not all, only certain revisions)

Some more are there.
