C++ is the main langauge for writing games, but there's no reason why you couldn't write a game in C# (I've even seen games written in Visual Basic 6).

DirectX is often considered somewhat easier to work with and have better documentation while OpenGL offers more freedom to do custom stuff. Even so now days neither API is being used anywhere near their max potential. Further more if you are making a multiplatform game you will most probably working in an environment that can support both openGL and DX.

EXACTLY thumb.gif And by multi platform we mean it easier to make your game run linux, windows and mac at the same time with Open GL. Since linux and mac do not support Direct X.

It will support OpenGL 2.1 ES for the PS3 and Directx 9.0c for the Xbox 360 if I recall correctly as well as whatever DX or OpenGL version they choice for the PC.

Sorry mate, I think I understand now. You're not saying that either library is cross platform, but rather if you're writing cross platform games then your approach may have to be supporting multiple different libraries?

I largely agree with that.
