Which i7 should I go for?! - Page 3

H77 does not allow for overclocking....
the CPU turbo boost is part of the technology of the chip and that will run on the H77,
you may also set your RAM to run 1600MHz or more determining on what RAM in-particular with an IB chip, but that's it.
you really want a Z77 board.

Chips have gotten a lot easier to OC over the years (esp with sandy/ivy compared to prev gens), get the K series chip, hit up a guide here and flog the snot out of that sucker thumb.gif

Tbh, I feel like my PC would sound more like a beast with an i7 in it than a Xeon biggrin.gif

can anyone recommend me a cheap z77 board that can OC if i decide to just spend £10 extra for the 3770K instead of the 3770 (non k)

My budget is £350

The ram is £45
I7 3770 is £250

The cheapest one I could find was the MSI Z77A-G41 @ £65.
