Samsung 840 Pro 128GB vs Intel 520 120GB

I am deciding between these 2. On paper the Intel looks faster. I hear the Intel is very reliable but the Sandforce controller scares me. I have read articles, that Intel spent a lot of time developing a special firmware for this controller. Which one is faster and more reliable?

I would like to see that paper.
Actually.there is nothing to decide.Samsung has best SSDs today.Just like Intel processors. Samsung 830 keep endurance record 6PB,so probably 840 PRO will be around too with endurance.Samsung 840 PRO and OCZ Vector are fastest SSDs today, but i would not touch OCZ product.

The "paper" i was talking about the specs that I saw on Newegg:

Intel 520 128GB
Max Sequential Read = Up to 550 MB/s (SATAIII)
Max Sequential Write = Up to 500 MB/s (SATAIII)

Samsung Pro 840 128GB
Sustained Sequential Read = 530 MB/s
Sustained Sequential Write = 390 MB/s

Sequential Speeds are pointless for judging how fast an ssd will be overall.

So, Yes, the Samsung is better by leaps and bounds.

SSDs are so fast today you won't see a difference with those speeds.
I plan on ordering a Samsung 840 250GB for my lappy soon. From what I've heard/read, Samsung SSDs are one of the best.

I have both of these SSDs, and in larger capacities too, and IMO the Samsung 840 Pro is not "leaps and bounds" better than the Intel 520. If you want to see impressive synthetic benchmark numbers, get the 840 Pro, if you want great real world performance, get either one. Check Anandtech's own much more real world benchmark testing to see how they really compare.

Given their prices are virtually identical, and that the 840 Pro is newer technology, and the reliability of the two manufactures is very similar, the 840 Pro is the better choice.

So please guide me; I should be looking at random reads and writes?

Intel apparently advertises ATTO speeds and we know that for ATTO every SSD is great, while Samsung advertises AS-SSD speeds and AS-SSD is benchmark that give you real world, worst case scenario speeds.
I didnt say Intel is not good, just Samsung is better.
this is Intel

And this is Samsung
