which 7870?

Thread Starter
I *just* ordered this a few days ago, hasn't even arrived:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150606

and only found out that there's an additional sale now for the msi brand!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127722&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL032113&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL032113-_-EMC-032113-Index-_-DesktopGraphicsVideoCards-_-14127722-L07A

Making the MSI 7870 $45 cheaper than the XFX black edition 7870!

Should I order the msi and return the xfx?

On a side note, I got conflicting reports.
The xfx black edition I linked to, SHOULD still come with a lifetime warranty, right? The caveat being that I must file the paperwork/register within 30 days, and, it might not be transferable.
Lifetime warranty worth $45?

$195 after rebate is good price, if your card hasn't shipped, cancel it. If it has, I think Newegg charges a restocking fee for returns.

Tahiti LE can be had for a little more

well darn... it shipped some time ago, arrival monday.
yeah, let's say it's $10 to ship back to newegg, and if there's really a 15% restocking fee, I would lose money.
was the xfx a bad choice?

I personally don't have any experience with xfx, but based on what I've heard about xfx around here, YMMV. At least they have a lifetime warranty.

OP return the XFX HD 7870 DD. instead of a HD 7870 (Pitcairn) get the HD 7870 Tahiti LE card . Powercolor HD 7870 Tahiti LE has a good cooler and excellent price at USD 240 (210 after mail in rebate). 8 - 10% faster than HD 7870 at stock speeds and on par with HD 7950(800 mhz) and GTX 660 Ti. overclocks to 1.2 ghz and matches HD 7970 (925 Mhz) performance.

this thread has a list of HD 7870 Tahiti LE reviews

you need a quality 500w psu with atleast 36A on +12v rail to run this card with overclocking . so if you have such a psu go ahead with this card.
