As said before that is your assumption.

I am not with it or against it.

FXAA:

I don't use SSAA in the game, I just posted it as they dropped it from the charts.

3rd person games are played on the sofa with a pad, I just use FXAA and double buffer for 60fps vsync. The bench for those settings averages 59.8fps so I guess that's as close as 60fps as it'll get. There's still the odd frame drop usually around the cut scenes they use for hiding the loading but it's not horrendous.

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/03/11/asus_hd_7970_directcu_ii_video_card_review/6#.UU3tvjdat8E

so is that game too "specifically tailored to AMD cards" ?

I never stated DirectCompute is an AMD-only application. However, its implementation within the Global Illumination shading routine in Showdown runs in such a way that it specifically targets the strengths of the Radeon architecture without implementing any optimizations for NVIDIA's. That to me is specifically tailored and yes I have confirmations of this from sources on the Codemasters team.

Global Illumination through compute shaders have been done in a number of recent games, none of which impact GeForce performance like Dirt Showdown's does. Crysis 3, Hitman Absolution and Tomb Raider all use advanced global illumination and all perform well on NVIDIA cards. Meanwhile, turning off GI in Showdown will result in a massive performance increase for NVIDIA cards.

Your numbers seem far more realistic than what [H] tested them as.

The 7970 is 6% faster than the 680.
The 680 is 12% faster than the 670.
The 670 is 20% faster than the 7870.

you must be referring to when they compare a 670 with a 680 using 2 x SSAA, a feature that is clearly buggy and doesn't work......

4 x SSAA doesn't even work on my 670....tressfx turns into a blur and my performance hovers around 10fps....
