Well I don't really know how "serious" that is... in general I recommend the Gigabyte Z77X-D3H over the Extreme4 for this reason but the Pro3 is a very affordable motherboard compared to it's competitors.

I'm inclined to buy a Asus P8z77-V-LE on the cygnus build. It would be like this : http://i.imgur.com/e1i2sD0.png
If i get a prove on buying an i5 on an i7, i'll change it
post #55 of 95
Try to change the memory with a kit that uses 1.5v, kingston uses 1.65v it can be a little high for the IMC of the CPU

Ok gonna check that out, but how much years will the build stay solid?
It depends to what needs you have for me a CPU is ok for 2-3 years a VGA is only good for 1year everyone is different

WD Red's are pricy and slow (5400RPM's) I wouldn't buy that. I would stick with the Samsung 840 too since it's a better performer and gives more storage capacity for the money.

I wouldn't go with an i7 either:

I'd go with the i5 3570k + Hyper 212 Evo. There you can snag easily a 4.5 GHz overclock which will give it a significant advantage.

Lastly, a 500W PSU (I'd suggest the CX500M which is way more convenient to work with since it's modular) will be more than enough even overclocked. Mind you, Ivy Bridge chips have 77W TDP, and the HD 7950 has 200W TDP.
