All personal preference, but my preference hasn't been too strong for their games after the merger tongue.gif

Final Fantasy being one of my favorite game series, X and XII were the last two I enjoyed. After that... they seemed to become... dumbed down or just really too easy. Played through the newer ones so fast it wasn't funny, and had no real replay value like the the earlier games. One thing I used to love about Square games was the replay value most had, but like most games released these days they rather have you buy the next installment instead of replaying the old game again

I too loved DX:HR... Hitman was great. Tomb Raider I haven't touched., I stopped playing at X-2, never played once since. I still have my Square copies of FFVII-FFIX biggrin.gif

I would really like to see a remake of VII and VIII. I might consider picking up the the remake of FFX, it was the last FF I really enjoyed, and probally my 2nd favorite overall. I have owned most of them since FFX, besides FFXI, and ended up walking away from X-2, XII, and XIII. I can't say that I hated them, they just couldn't keep me interested till the end. I have thought about going back and finishing them up for the hell of it, maybe spark some interest again but hasn't happened. Hell even tried FFXIV, that was a disappointment even more so then the rest.

I still say we should try to focus all this consumer desire toward a sequel and not a remake. I don't mean a FF15 either, I mean dig up FF6 and make a new game in the same world and continue the story line. Do the same with FF7...and 8...do it for every singe one. Keep the game play the same...just upgrade the graphics. I mean there is all this great history to build off of. I don't see why they think they have to start fresh with a brand new world for each installment of Final Fantasy. Really to place them all in the same franchise makes no sense. I mean FF7 and FF8 have about as much in common as Mass Effect and The Witcher.

We would get the nostalgia feeling and the new game feeling if they started coming out with FF7x2 and such...they made a couple "-2" games I believe. I know FF10 had one...I think FF13 does too. Maybe FF12 had one too? Why not keep it up?

The best part of FFX will remain the same, the epic story. Also just throwing this out there but Auron was such a awesome character Chuck Norris shaved his beard off to look more like him. True Story thumb.gif

That video is from the original game, absolutely identical model detail/textures.

The game actually looks pretty good at 1080p with an emulator.

I can't agree at all. It's one of the best things about Final Fantasy, that each game is largely a self-contained package that doesn't really need to be expanded on. If you start making direct sequels to each main Final Fantasy game then you risk turning what was a unique, memorable one-off into the same stale experiences we see from so many other game series out there.

Besides, Final Fantasy VII was already done to death with Crisis Core, Before Crisis, Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children. That game needs Square's attention like Call of Duty does Activision's.

People like to say the series is dead. Depending on who you ask, it died when Final Fantasy X ditched the world map, when XI went online, when XII was a 'singleplayer MMO' or when XIII was one long hallway. As far as I'm concerned, the series is dead the minute Square forgoes new games and gives in to nostalgia, choosing to focus their attention on remaking, spinning off and pumping out sequels for their past glory.

A new game. Really that is all I want. So I agree with your disagreement tongue.gif However, if people want to scream and kick their feet for a remake...I'd rather that a new game was made with the same characters in the same world and go the true sequel route. I would enjoy that, but I have no desire to play the same story with different pixels. That is like buying a blueray of a dvd that you already own. I suppose it would be OK if it was a movie you re-watched a lot....but unless you are playing FF7 on at least a monthly basis I don't any one would really benefit from a HD remake. But a lot of people are asking for this sort of thing. I just would like their energy to be directed in a slightly different direction. One day SquareEnix is going to listen to them.

Heh, though I've never even heard of those games...but wasn't Advent Children a movie? What platform were they on? I think there was also a Final Fantasy Tactics that was semi-FF7 or 8 based, but I've never played it.

I think we would all like new FF games as well, with whole new worlds and characters. They just need to prove themselves and make the next game amazing. The idea of remaking a classic makes it seem as if they couldn't mess anything up, since the story line is copy/pasted; Which I think is an additional reason other than nostalgia that people are wanting a remake instead.

Because these are easier to remake. Hey, let's just make these games high res and call it HD remaster. Whereas they would have to completely overhaul the graphics on VII, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Xenogears, FFV, FFVI, Saga Frontiers, Parasite Eve, Vagrant Story, Secret of Mana (well Iphone did get updated graphics), Secret of Evermore, Legend of Mana...
