IMO yes.
The LOD issue can be corrected by properly covering part of the LED, putting the sensor a little bit higher, variating the intensity of light, etc...

The Zowie AM I have here has been tracking fine without any real distortion since I removed the built in positioner clip.

Lift off is a bit nicer (higher) on my preferred surfacing. Pads that were prone to issue (extreme ripple), are now quite consistent...

Quite a decent mouse if you accept the Egro and DPI range.

Also creates distortion. I don't recommend this if you're seeking optimal tracking precision.

The combo of optics and surface can be optimized, though most common mice are designed for surface compatibility over a rather niche issue.

Well, of course. Logitech has their own parameters though. The design has been used prior to public release of Agilent's 3060.

How do you take off the LED cover? I tried but was afraid of breaking it.

I still have tracking issues with the light filter removed if I don't redirect the light. The Mico doesn't have that piece on the lens. I think it is more the case when using the "450" step.

The DeathAdder with the tape soft mod is only decreasing the LED's intensity. Shouldn't be much of an issue, depends on the pad though. Frame rate likely will go down.

I think Zowie is just doing stuff the wrong way. Zowie mice are okay. The fact they could make it better, yet don't, is saddening.

Any one have great pictures of the G400 lens?

Other than the Sensei being ambidextrous and for the claw gripper, I don't see what's so special about it to warrant an optical replica. Personally the only reason why I still like my Sensei is because they have four mouse buttons on the sides, two for each hand. But for my right hand the extra buttons work out perfectly for my ring finger to hit as a reflect motion. It allows for insane reaction speed that I have yet to be able to replicate in other mice. Would I like to get an optical version of this mouse? Yes, however I think there are other claw grippers out there than can fill the void better, unless you're in need of the ambidextrousness.

All mice I know with extremely low LOD suffer from some kind of issue (incompatiblity, inconsistency, lower maxperfect speed, etc).
IMO a LOD of 1cd is good enough and can be achieved without jeopardizing tracking performance.

The 2nd LED clip? Pops up fairly easy moving up. I was talking about the LED positioner (filter) which also dual purposes and aids in lowering lift off. Ex. extreme ripple on Hien Kai.G3 Red on "1150" step. This occurred randomly (usually when debris got between actual eye) , but it doesn't seem to do it anymore.

MiCO has a different custom lens completely from what I remember.

You can create a mouse with original HW and design it for a specific lift off range on a single pad. The issue we have here is limited is surface compatibility.

DA3.5G might have a higher typical lift off, but it works on way more surfacing compared to original and 2nd gen 3G.

Using a specific IR LED over red limits certain aspects, as well as using red over IR. Even we limit the choice down to a single color, LED performance can shift or change based on single model. There is no correct choice, but optimal or recommended ones. Then down to tolerance and what not.

I don't mind the custom lens as much as long as it doesn't impose other issues.

So the Logitech (MegaForce?) lens refracts the light differently. To bad I cannot see the eye of the lens, is it bigger than the Avago? Is the height of the lens similar as well?

The Kingsis lens doesn't refract light very well, in my opinion. Amongst other things.

I don't dislike the idea of using a custom lens if it isn't magnified and lights the surface well. Although, I think using a certain surface is a better way to go.

There is no news on it since it does not exist or is confirmed to even be in the works biggrin.gif

I did ask a Swedish rep about new mice however.
He replied : "Up to 4 new mice are planed to be released in the fall, all with optical sensors"

So there is a big chance that they will do some sort of "raw" version or something with a 3310.
But it's the same that they said on other forums like reddit etc.

So it should be confirmed from so many different sources at least that they will release some new mice soon biggrin.gif
