I still have tracking issues with the light filter removed if I don't redirect the light. The Mico doesn't have that piece on the lens. I think it is more the case when using the "450" step.
The DeathAdder with the tape soft mod is only decreasing the LED's intensity. Shouldn't be much of an issue, depends on the pad though. Frame rate likely will go down.
I think Zowie is just doing stuff the wrong way. Zowie mice are okay. The fact they could make it better, yet don't, is saddening.
Any one have great pictures of the G400 lens?
The 2nd LED clip? Pops up fairly easy moving up. I was talking about the LED positioner (filter) which also dual purposes and aids in lowering lift off. Ex. extreme ripple on Hien Kai.G3 Red on "1150" step. This occurred randomly (usually when debris got between actual eye) , but it doesn't seem to do it anymore.
MiCO has a different custom lens completely from what I remember.

IMO a LOD of 1cd is good enough and can be achieved without jeopardizing tracking performance.
You can create a mouse with original HW and design it for a specific lift off range on a single pad. The issue we have here is limited is surface compatibility.
DA3.5G might have a higher typical lift off, but it works on way more surfacing compared to original and 2nd gen 3G.
Using a specific IR LED over red limits certain aspects, as well as using red over IR. Even we limit the choice down to a single color, LED performance can shift or change based on single model. There is no correct choice, but optimal or recommended ones. Then down to tolerance and what not.
I don't mind the custom lens as much as long as it doesn't impose other issues.Edited by Skylit - 3/23/13 at 12:19am
