REAL quiet and decent CFM right? I have the 900 too, the tricools are not bad until on high. They push 79CFM high, and those ones you have are 72CFM?
How do they compare noise-wise to the tricools, half as loud or less?
I will do a video comparision soon. But by ear I would guess they are 1/3 less--dba is not linear--meaning that the rate increases at a log. But they are a lot better. For instance I really notice it in the AM after I get up--and this AM I did not even hear the rig from upstairs--which I usually can.

RE out of stock--that's the story of my life--if I like it and buy one I should prolly buy 6 because I'll want another and their gone. Happened with the resevoir I wanted--wanted clear so I could see the juice--but only red ones are available.

I went to Walmart for some 3/4" 1/4-20 bolts to put some feet on a case and ended up with a motorcylce patch kit/CO2 Inflater/Blue LED rocker switches two spools of wire a random assortment of electrical connectors and some double stick foam tape

Yep...Chozart is a master of building on a budget...looks tight.

Building your own sys is the ticket...I like the Antec 900 because it's got great airflow and a 200mm top mounted fan--and I think top mounting a rad is the way to go (heat rises)...

Still working on the final version..I got Velocitor torn down ATM--been working out how to mount 38mm thick fans on the front bays...

Well if you pull out one of the bays that can mount HDDs you will see that a plastic part snaps into the bay with four prongs or tabs--after you unfastent that piece you will see that the fan is mounted to it from the interior with two screws--these are 25mm deep TriCools. Measure from the metal grill to the metal bay and you have about 38.5mm Now the removable front bezel that frames the removable bays and ODD bays is an easy thing to modify--you could either put modders mesh in that opening that the two removable bays would fill with their multiple metal mesh blanks or use acrylic grills (which I am planinng on) or any number of other tricks like twin blowholes with turbines in them or whatever you can imagine.

I understand from a production point of view Antec is going to provide nine identical mesh blanks and two identical HDD bays and call it a day--but from a modders POV it is just a chassis...and reskinning poritons of it is the plan.

The part I am still working out is how to mount the fans to the bays...unfortunately the bay interior blocks portions of the fan--which makes me concerned both about unpleasant acoustics from some otherwise silent fans and reduced cooling--which would be the whole point of adding thicker bodied fans

So I am looking at different HDD racks like the IcyDock the Duke reccomended and other classics like the Lian Li bay insert that fits in 2 bays. That would free up one more optical drive slot--which would be really good--since I like the 2 bay resevoir better than the single bay res...but nothing is clicking yet.

There are some very nice passive HDD coolers that also dampen the sound--they look pretty spiffy too--and I am thinking that perhaps mounting those instead of the removable bay and then moutning fans to the chassis might b the ticket--then cover the foprnt panel area occupied by the two 120 x 38 mm fans with modders mesh or acrylic laser cut grills.

It will still look alot lke the 900 from Antec on the outside--but the inside will have been re-engineered to provide better acoustics, better HDD cooling (without the dust) and look totally rad dude.
