People like that just make me laugh inside, and than feel sad..and than hopeless...for a lot of humanity.

Really tho..I am really excited about google glass, and if you really wanted to buy them just to record stuff nonstop, as previously mentioned there are way easier ways to do it. There are legal tiny camera's which you can actually fit in to the nose thing on the sun glasses and you won't ever know it is there.

I plan to harness technology to live off the grid. I embrace technological advances, but devices like smartphones that just introduce distraction and a way to market microtransactions and insanely priced data plans are NOT necessities, and are in fact luxuries. I probably wont own another Smartphone unless one comes out for $50 that's IP67 certified and has a portait QWERTY keyboard.

I don't see why we need things like Google Glass, but I know there's a majority that will disagree with me.

Need != Want.

You don't need a high powered computer, in fact you don't need a computer at all.

There are hundreds of items within your own home that you don't, but they're still there and you still use them.

I agree that no one 'needs' this item, but people are free to spend their money on what they want. Some people buy a new car, some people will invest, some people will buy some glasses...that don't have any glass lenses. wink.gif

I agree, but people on here typically justify the need for smartphones nowadays rather than admitting they're a luxury. Big difference between a desktop PC that stays at home vs constantly connected devices that act as an electronic umbilical cord.

Honestly, are you surprised? This is a computer technology enthusiast forum. People here live and breathe computers. If they can't be with their main rig, you can be sure they're gonna carry it's baby brother in their pocket.

From article:
"[Google Glass] destroys having multiple identities, and I find that quite a scary concept.”

Really? Really?

Let's just see what multiple identities due to the internet has gotten us:
Cyber Bullying
Hacktivists
Opportunistic Child Predators

And, best of all:

The illusion that that identity wasn't easily tracked back to you if someone wanted to.

Let's not even go into the social tendencies reliant upon first impressions that Glass could break.
