not to to mention the recent milk scandal that affected china before the olympics held there, that affected perhaps hundreds of thousands of infants. of course nothing could be done, due to the lack of transparency and no public protests. implementing regulations correctly is basically impossible in a country where the rule of law basically doesn't exist and there is no transparency. or the massive high speed rail accident that happened several years? that was due to the department of rail embezzling hundreds of millions of dollars? china has been ranked the #1 site of corruption recently. Japan is not like China, Japan has had the fortune of having a government that believes in the rule of law more or less and the free market (more or less). That's why Japan improved, but there is no reason yet to assume China will as well.

that's the thing about this version of linux. is promoting linux really good when you are promoting what will probably be a malware and spyware ridden version of linux, probably for the sake of being better able to control your citizens? i already have an android phone tyvm and sprint has already given me all the malware i need, and combined this with breaking compatibility with apps by not allowing me to upgrade my os. sprint and the ccp should hang out sometime tongue.gif

Yeah and the Hudson Bay company wasn't the single largest company in Canada? Cadillac isn't that a chaise maker for Quebec?

See any connection to that and the recent oilshale delevopments?

i am pretty sure most windows in China are pirated anyway. The gov wants control on how people communicate. with windows, people can cross the firewall with 3rd party software and VPNs. Now, the gov get their hands on "their own" OS. limited what "apps" could be installed...making it harder to communicate with the outside world.

A China citizen could reply exactly identical.

It s hilarious seeing US people talking about how they are protected privacy wise in their own country with their own operating system ,but using hardware Made in China..
US is one of the most controlled countries in the world in my opinion ,in spite of the so called democracy ,same as China.
Democracy and freedom are just illusions for most of the citizens around the world.

Hardware Made in China can very well have all kinds of low level malware or spyware preinstalled and undetected ,starting from a motherboard UEFI firmware and finishing with iphones ,phones and tablets. So the backdors are in there.

Also thee seems to be some hate going towards Linux this days ,maybe due to the huge success of Windows 8.

Ubuntu or Open SUSE are operating systems able to stay along Windows in many aspects for casual users ,you can browse ,chat ,edit ,play some games on Steam ,listen to music ,play movies with no problems what so ever ,a free bunch of software OS included and virus free.

Ubuntu is one of the easiest to configure OS i ve ever seen and that is why it has been chosen most probable.
Maybe in this way Open GL will be more used in the gaming industry as it was once.

No. There is way too much money involved for the company to dream of doing something like that, and for China to endorse or look the other way while it happens. If just a batch of iphones was found to have backdoors programmed in against Apple's will, Apple would have to pull everything they have made at that manufacturer... and china completely if the government was involved. Pretty much every other company would have to follow... at best it would mean sudden bankruptcy for the company involved... and if the government was doing it, it would mean China would probably come close to a complete economic collapse.

You can rest assured that back doors are not being put into the hardware or low level software like UEFI. Nobody would dream of risking that kind of money to get some backdoor code that lets them know your facebook password.

it was happening to windows pcs in china. hence why ms adopted new uefi security measures for windows 8

meh...

I kinda doubt it is going to move the Chinese away from pirate copies of windows... Windows 8 might smile.gif

^This ..Except the Windows 8 will drive them TO the XP ..TO the XP tongue.gif

Would you want to use an OS designed by the US government? rolleyes.gif

Considering the only facts came from the government, everyone else's are estimations and guesses as well. So whatever you want to think.

Considering most people hate the government, this will likely not work.
