The sooner the linux community yanks its head from its posterior and tackles these issue head on, with objectiveness, the sooner it will make inroads into the mainstream.

I'll not hold my breath, its going to be someone elses fualt, yet agian.let the design by comite finger pointing begin. I think if China actually did throw resources at linux, they could make something out of it.

GIMP isn't a competitor to PS though....

great way to not only miss my point, but make it for me, no one in their right mind wants to bandy about with multiple desktop enviroments, except for PC elitist wankers hell bent on making rube goldberg devices out of simple software.

...Yes, because there wasn't a choice of UI for Microsoft products either (Classic, Aero, Metro, Luna) and there aren't communities based around customizing Windows' UI.

Also, Ubuntu is simple...My Grandma was calling up the techies in my family up every weekend with problems she was encountering in XP, I got sick of it and installed Ubuntu, now she happily writes stuff down in Word and sends emails without accidentally closing a bar or menu.

How is it a piece of crap? I've been using it for a few months instead of Photoshop (University is teaching with it now as Adobe refuses to give students cheap versions of Photoshop) and while it's not as polished, it certainly is a great tool.

You know, you've been slammed so many times for trying to talk about Linux when you clearly have used Ubuntu once in 2006, maybe 2008, did a bunch of stuff in the most obtuse way possible and then blamed the OS...You'd think you'd have stopped by now considering I don't think I've seen you come out on top of a single Windows v Linux argument, ever. They both have their uses and Linux certainly has a chance of becoming the most used OS easily, Android proved that normal users can use certain Linux "distros" so to speak.

Some people tinker with their hardware, others tinker with their software. Those that tinker with their software enjoy the choice that linux provides.
