First time build + Watercooling - Page 3

Any feedback on the Alphacool VP655 with D5 top seen here:http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_201&products_id=30626

Can't find anything on it, and the D5 seems like a more reliable pump as opposed to the MCP35X

Yeah, its just a rebranded D5 pump. Same as the Swiftech MCP655 and a few others. Looks like a decent price for a pump and top, so can't go wrong.

(Off topic but tonight at 12am I picked up Bioshock Infinite, just ended my session now @ 6am - just too tired to fully enjoy this magnificent game the way it deserves).

Also, I've been thinking about what you said, about tackling both at once. I truly think I could handle it, because I like to take my time with things, and love to have everything perfect. I just can't hold back my excitement for this project. If anything, I may wait a couple weeks, get familiar with everything until I know I'm comfortable, and then start the WCing. Frankly, I haven't even decided on every component for my build yet, which I have a separate thread for here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1374808/1500-budget-first-build.

Would appreciate input. Thanks!

don't worry mate I'm in this with you too, It's taken 2 months of research but I have just ordered my first proper water cooling loop for around $1700 so my nerves are running high too. thumb.gif

also I concur with compalalaska with that D5 pump, basically all D5's are re brands and are all just as good

What are yall using for Rad fans, been leaning toward 3 Scythe GT's (1650rpm) on a fan controller, in push config with an Alphacool XT45 360mm. For a CPU and GPU block.

edit: meant 1850rpm

http://www.frozencpu.com/products/9780/fan-619/Cooler_Master_Blade_Master_120mm_x_25mm_PWM_Fan_R4-BMBS-20PK-R0.html

I've yet to find a fan with more static pressure at high rpm's smile.gif Also for the price, I can't argue that they are worth way more than the $10 they cost

To this day $700 after upgrades im still trying to find a better fan without paying $25 for those noctua fans for less dba/cfm/static

best of luck to you on the build!thumb.gif

Are they quiet? I see they are rated up to 32db - do you use these with a fan controller?

I prefer the Koolance 120x25mm or 120x38mm 2600rpm fans, best static pressure per dollar I've seen, and they are very well built and undervolt very well.

Yes I have them on fan controller.. At 2000rpm yes you can hear them, but you have 3.9mmH2O static pressure ( or so they say ) I bump it down to 1800, very much less noise, 1500 and under barely noticeable...

My whole take on fans is, I want something powerful that moves enough air with good static pressure at a decent dB, I've not yet found something better in stats than the blade's and trust me im still searching.

I've subbed to your thread GL with everything mate:thumb:

wow, those koolance 120mm x 25mm seem to outperform the blade masters by far....
Why wasn't this thread up a week ago!!! biggrin.gif I already have 3 blade masters on the way

I went with the Noctua NF 12's pushing through an RX240 rad, I needed PWM as they are running off the board not a fan controller, have them at 300rpm idle, then at 600rpm when the CPU gets to 40oC, and step up 100rpm for every 5oC rise in temp, 100% silent just ugly to look at
