Cannot decide between two cards, Graphics enthusiasts please weigh in!!

Right guys,

So I have the specs of my system & I'm putting in the new card. At first I was considering a 7970 for crossfire ( which in my opinion is better supported than nvidias surround ) but I felt like the 7970 offerings were lacking in comparison to offerings from the 680's.

Anyway, in this new system, I caught sight of the GTX titan & now I'm stuck deciding between two cards. I obviously realise the different VRAM amounts, clock speed difference & different power however I'm not sure what to do.

I don't really have the space for triple monitor gaming & Gaming is not all I do on the machine so I think three monitors could get in the way, so I was thinking of buying a solid "27 and just playing on one screen, in which case I'd get an ASUS GeForce GTX 680 DirectCU II TOP Edition or Should I put in the Palit GeForce GTX Titan 6GB version & make space for triple monitors?

I've never used triple monitors before, but it was something that interested me & considering the two I'm really not sure. If I push my budget a little I can grab the titan, however I'm definitely more comfortable with the ASUS card. I honestly don't know whether I would move to triple monitors, I would definitely move to two for productivity purposes, but how good really is gaming with triple monitors and are they useful for anything else?

Cheers

7970's will do you much better especially in crossfire thumb.gif

Titan is not worth the money go for the 680 4gb but i think you would be hapier with 7970

7970 crossfire or 680 4gb SLI, don't get a titan.

You pay a lot for, for a lot less FPS.

Thanks guys, originally I wanted to go for that setup, however I have a Gigabyte - GA-z77-xUD5h motherboard, would this support dual 7970's & have room for a wireless card, I believe it would at the top PCI express slot. I'm not running at an ethernet port.

Cheers guys

Okay cheers, Actually going to go with one 7970 & in future SLI if I do want that extra frame rates or some slight triple monitor usage.

Cheers guys

Don't understand why people keep bashing Titan for its price.

Titan stock is around 35% faster than the 680, & since 4GB 680s go for +500$, Titan could command a 700$ price tag. Add another 150$ for the extra Vram, another 100$ for the cooler, and you end up with a 1K$ card.
It's not as bad as you guys make it sound, it's just not as good as a 690 for the money in some cases.

And let's not forget that it can oc 30-40% higher than stock, while a 680 will struggle with 25% oc over stock.
