Q: About 4pin pwm to 3pin fan controller

Hi,

I currently own a nzxt phantom 410. I want to add additional fans such as the gelid solutions wings 12 pl (4-pin) pwm fan.

However, the fan controller which comes with the case is 3-pin. If I were to get a 4 to 3 pin adapter, would I be able to adjust the fan's speed? or will it remain at 100%?

Thanks,

PWM fans can be voltage controlled like a 3 pin. so you are fine

the only difference between a PWM fan and a 3 pin is the chip that's installed in the back of the PWM fan that modulates the power of the fan when the PWM signal is supplied. if no PWM signal is supplied, it works just like a 3 pin fan.

Thanks, is there anywhere I can get some affordable adapters? Since the 3 pins on the controller are surrounded by plastic and don't really want to cut if off.
