Did I just make a huge mistake? - Page 2

If you have that motherboard and sandybridge CPU, then yes. Its easy, put the updated bios on a USB stick. Go to the UEFI and I think the option is "Instant Flash". I've done it many times with the same motherboard.

You sould always update your BIOS no matter how old or new the board is if there is a newer BIOS available

Also, I believe the USB stick has to be formatted in FAT32, right?

I'm just the opposite, if it works & I have no issues with it, I will not update just because there is a newer bios.
If I do run into an issue & a bios update has a fix I need, then I update.
I have bricked a bios before when a flash went fine. Updated, all good, verified, prompt to restart, restart & never see POST on that bios again.

So now If it isn't broke, I don't try to fix it.

But i am just like you i have a Asus Rampage IV Extreme dont have any problems so why sould i update the BIOS and i am too lazy to do it as i need to use a BIOS conveter
