The OP does say he mostly plays TF2 and Dead space 2, but 2 years later he might get interested in a game that just won't run on his laptop(CPU wise).

Anyways if the APU + HD 7670m is better then I hope that's what the OP gets. Also if the OP goes with an APU + Graphic card combo I'd suggest he sit around for the A10-5750m which should be arriving pretty soon.

EDIT: Since everybody loves facts and statistics, this is what I've found off notebookcheck.net.

In the games F1 2011, Battlefield 3, COD MW3, Skyrim, Anno 2070 and Risen 2: Dark waters. The HD7730m + 3612qm has a better average FPS than the A10 + HD 7670m combo in all games at all settings with the exception of BF3 @ high settings and maybe Anno 2070 @ high.

True. I'm not sure if he wants to wait for a new AMD APU or Intel Haswell.
Well, 2 year isn't that bad, I mean he doesn't want a super fancy powerful gaming laptop that'll last him couple years.
it really depend how he use it.
if he want a powerful gaming laptop then he has no choice to raise his budget from 800 dollar or probably around in 1000 dollars.

It's true that he might be interest in playing powerful games in the future where AMD APU crossfire can't handle it or on low settings.
Sadly, i doubt he might be interest in that tech.
I assume he is in college and playing some light games to pass some time.

Not to mention, it depend on the games if they run better on AMD or Nvidia.
Again, it all depend on him choosing either Intel or AMD.
Don't get me wrong, i don't hate Intel or AMD fanboy or anything like that.
I own Lenovo IdeaPad Y580, it's just that I want him a decent laptop in a decent budget that'll last him at least 2 years.
Beside, computer evolves fast, so there's no point grabbing the latest gen because in the next couple months. You hear new CPU and GPU gens coming out.

If he wants Intel then by all means go for it.
