My first performance air cooler....

Thread Starter
Been building and overclocking for nearly 6 years now and I've never owned a high end air cooler.

I went straight to water cooling and then jumped over to 24/7 phase change cooling.

Now I'm moving to a Bitfenix Progidy and considering air cooling in it.

I have a 2500k that can run 5Ghz with 1.45v so I want an air cooler that could handle that while being quiet and most important of all, will fit in the Bitfenix progidy case.

Noctua NH-D14 fits in a Prodigy, not sure how it will handle 1.45v though.

Cooler I know fits:
NH-D14

Other's listed here should fit as they have same / similar measurements

Cooler size comparison (Width x Depth x Height looking from front of case with motherboard laying flat)
K2 . . . . . .= . . . . 8x 6mm pipes 140x128x158mm 146x154x160mm w/ 120mm & 140mm PWM fans 43.2mm*
D14 . . . . .= . . . . 6x 6mm pipes 140x130x160mm 140x158x160mm w/ only 2011 has PWM fans 44mm*
TC14 . . . . .= . . . 5x 8mm pipes 140x134x160mm 140x159x171mm w/fans, PWM adaptor included 40-45mm*
HE01 . . . . .= . . . 6x 6mm pipes 140x119c160mm w/ 140x38mm PWM fan
*cooler base to bottom fin. (add 8mm for motherboard to bottom fin.)

You have PM with link to pics of Prodigy with NH-D14 on Asus PZ877-I board and EVGA GTX 680
(didn't post here because it's another forum)

You have to look at what fits on the board too, though.

I'd recomennd the Thermalright archon SBE X2

Indeed.
A very quiet and very good cooler.

The NHD will block my PCIEX slot so it's a no go and from looking around it looks like I'll have to run a Corsair H series cooler as e pump mount will not clash with anything.

The Thermalright HR-02 can be installed in such a direction that it doesnt block your pcie slot.

An AIO would be an obvious option too, but honestly, depending on your luck the pump on it might be louder than the fan on the HR-02 at full speed. smile.gif

Its a good cooler yes it just has one downside and that is that it is 170mm high many cases dont have room for coolers that high
