680s because they will generally overclock more. If you keep them at stock the 690 would be better because of less power consumption.

The GTX 680 SLI will give you only a FEW fps at 1080p over the GTX 690 but will be more power hungry.

I understand that but its still a single card, just like the titan. So if I put one titan and one 690 in identicle rigs the 690 will out perform the titan evsn though its one year older amf £100 cheper?

You can have 4 x Titan in a computer, but can only have 2 x GTX 690.

Nope, I think you didn't get the principle: the 690 will have the EXACT SAME problems as dual cards like 2x 680's, this being solely based on the fact that data has to be split between the two GPU's.

Microstutter or IDK doesn't happen because you have 2 cards, it happens because you have 2 separate GPU's which you have to split the tasks between.

I would personnally get the GTX 690 for single card solution and for the price.

But I'm the type of guy who needs at least 3 x GPUS. so the Titan would be more appropriate for me.

Ok I understand that now thanks, but is it really a big problem miroshutterimg? I mean I couldnt imagine it being that big a a deal as SLI wouldnt be as popular as it is would it?
