The 660ti would be a significant upgrade on the 550ti

The difference in power is significant.

http://anandtech.com/bench/Product/541?vs=647

However, if you're in Poland, I'd highly recommend checking out some AMD alternatives as the 7870 LE (based on Tahiti) or a 7950 might provide better cost/performance, price for performance, $/FPS especially since cards are more expensive exiting the states.

I realize this is an NVIDIA forum thread but here @ OCN, I'm not about brands I'm always about maximum performance so forgive me for mentioning that but not more than once are there people who need a few pointers who post in a specific forum when alternatives might be an option...

**I'm not aware OP if you need CUDA for something or something of PhysX or something, if that's the reason why you're in this NVIDIA forum, ignore my comment about AMD.

Hope you find a good buy! Then clock the hell out of it thumb.gif

I always see you recommending AMD on Nvidia forums. Getting tired of it.

Always? I'm just perusing from the homepage and I hit whatever is on the left for the "Latest Discussions"
Perhaps it is unwise of me to do so... =\

But at least you saying that indicates that I'm visiting OCN perhaps a little too much... xd

the amd 7870 is better value.it keeps up with the 660 ti and is near $50 cheaper.for the same price, the 7950 is a better card.

To be fair the 7000 cards have an excellent performance to price ratio. Unless you want Nvidia specific features like PhysX or CUDA red is pretty much the way to go. By the sound of it Towik does want physX and while you can get it running with amd + dedicated dealing with the custom drivers is a lot of hassle.

The 660 Ti is a good card and a worthy upgrade to a 550 Ti. Even so I would still advice to consider the 7950 and just sell the 550 Ti and just not use physX. Its not supported in that many games anyway.

Well its not just physx or cuda, i think the more popular features are good 3d support and lightboost.

TC, its like going from 550 ti to 580 gtx, same gains. If you don't care for 3d/lightboost, 7950 is a better card than 660ti

Thanks for all the replies and all of the info , opinions smile.gif

Like i said i dunno if i can buy anything , already I am in 3 months behind .

Is 20500 score for 3dmark 06 a good score ?
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm06/17199799

I don't really care about Benchmarking but i think i need to somehow test my Power Cable and the listing

Anyway i will take a look at the 7000 series , would it be really a pain to use 550 Ti as PPU with a Ati card as GPU ?

At this moment few games i have uses the 8800 , UE3 , ME , I tried to use dedicated card for PPU in Mass effect 3 but since they completely changed the options files , i don't think i can do it , I tried doing same thing with The Last Remnant but the game freezes when it goes to Menu after intro . I know that 2 of the game i said don't really have advanced Physx but i am just saying .

The cheapest 7950 i found
http://www.saturion.pl/product/179844/Sprzet_komputerowy_/Podzespoly/Radeon_7950_PRO2_Club3D_3GB_930MHz_2xminiDP_HDMI_2xDVI_PCI_E_CoolStream_GRY.html

so 7950 is like 660 Ti ?

Why none of the shops shows ROP and so on , it's like >_>

By the way 7950 will i be able to Fold ?
