AMD 1100t Black Edition, OC or Turbo?

Thread Starter
Just upgraded from my 965 Black Edition to an 1100t Black Edition and I'm looking to OC it or figure out how this Turbo Mode works. It was my understanding that this CPU could have 3 cores locked / 3 cores auto-OC'd. That seems like the more appealing option because there are a few games I play that would benefit from that, especially Planetside2 which seems to stutter/choke on 6-8 core processors.

How would I go about enabling that -3/turbo mode? The only options I see in BIOS regarding turbo are "AMD Turbo Core" and "Turbo Core Ratio" which don't look like they are the settings I need, and changing them didn't seem to make any differences.

Disable Turbo Core and up the CPU's multi and Northbridge to the speed you desire.

Earlier I disabled turbo core and upped the multi a few notches to go from 3.3 to 3.6. This resulted in several system halt > reboot scenarios which I'll assume was not enough voltage.

I'm unsure how much I need to bump the voltage and NB. I also can't seem to figure out the CPU voltage setting, that seems to have changed with the CPU. Now there's something about "CPU voltage offset" which I don't quite understand.

You will need to upp the CPU and CPU/NB Votlage.

Take the CPU voltage to 1.42V and set your CPU speed between 3.8 or 4GHz

and put your CPU-NB voltage to 1.28V and set the Northbridge speed to 2800 or 3000MHz

I increased the CPU voltage by 0.10 which puts it around 1.40v. Changed the CPU/NB Frequency from auto to 2800MHz. Changed the NB Voltage from auto to1.20v.

According to HWMonitor my CPU VCORE is 1.39-1.40v, my CPU/NB is 1.46v, my ICH CORE(NB) is 1.20v. According to CPU-Z my Core Voltage is 1.392-1.404v, bounces around a tiny bit but I'm pretty sure those have been the only two numbers displayed so far.

What are people using these days for stress testing? Still using ITB and P95?

Passed 5 standard and 10 high ITB passes. Failed about 8-10 minutes in to P95 blend testing. Got a BSOD with a 0x0000000a stop code. Pretty sure that means my vcore is too low.

Increased CPU voltage in BIOS to 1.400. HWM shows 1.40-1.42v idle. CPU-Z shows 1.404-1.416v idle. Under load HWM shows 1.40-1.44v and CPU-Z shows 1.440v.

Running P95 blend test again.

ETA: Just a few minutes in to the blend test I got errors on cores 2(Test 4) and 6(Test 3)...
Quote:
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
Torture Test completed 3 tests in 5 minutes - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
Worker stopped.

According to my core usage monitor only cores 1, 4, and 5 are at 100%. Cores 2, 3, and 6 are around 0-3% currently. According to Prime95 cores 1, 3, 4, and 5 are still being tested. What does this mean?

My buddy that I got this CPU from said when he had tried overclocking it last year he had errors like this on P95 with that last core. Could it be a flaw with the CPU? Seems to run fine when not overclocked, haven't had any issues at all.

Change the CPU/NB voltage from Auto to 1.3V and put the NB voltage back to Auto.

Bump up the CPU voltage from 1.4 to 1.42V, if that doesn't work, try 1.44V then 1.45V

Did 15 passes with ITB set to standard, 5 passes with ITB set to high, now running Prime95 blend test.

I went with the settings you posted and under load CPU-Z shows a CPU Voltage of 1.464v and HWM shows a CPU VCORE of 1.46v(1.43-1.49v min/max). HWM shows CPU/NB at 1.32v under load with a min/max of 1.30-1.34v. At idle CPU-Z CPU Voltage bounces between 1.428-1.440v.

Will report back with P95 results. So far it's moved on to Test 6 and core #6 didn't error so we must be headed in the right direction. Core #3 is lagging a bit behind the others, though. Not sure if that's a problem but I figured I'd mention it anyway.

ETA: On test #9 and nothing to report yet. Temp range according to HWM has been 41c-73c, but that max is probably from running ITB on high and that min was from starting HWM late/after idle. Forgot to reset min/max values before running P95.

Core #1 failed on Test 10.

Core #6 failed on Test 11.

Core #3 is still lagging about one test behind the others.

The other cores are on to the second phase of testing so far. I'll go ahead and shut the test down for now.

I'm not sure what to do now. I have my CPU Voltage in BIOS set to the value closest to 1.42v(tad higher), but under load CPU-Z shows it at 1.46v. That's a 0.04v difference which is concerning me a bit. If I bump it in BIOS to 1.45v then I'd imagine CPU-Z would read 1.49-1.50v which seems a bit high for a 700MHz OC.

Bumped the voltage from 1.42v to 1.43v in BIOS(actual value in BIOS is like 1.43125blahblahblah). CPU-Z shows it at 1.440v while idle. Running Prime95 blend test again to see if any progress is made.

I noticed there is an "Extreme Overclocking" section with voltage ocp settings and some other stuff and it's all either enabled or auto, but this section isn't in my CHIV user manual. Should any of that be disabled or can it be safely ignored? I have all the usual stuff disabled that should be.

ETA: Blend Test is running. CPU-Z is showing voltages of 1.464v and 1.476v. HWM is showing 1.46-1.48v with a min/max of 1.44v-1.48v. Min/Max temp so far, no ITB, is 40-62c.

ETA2: Core #5 failed on Test 2. Core #6 failed on Test 3. Core #3 failed on Test 4. Seems like the bump from 1.42v to 1.43v in BIOS made it worse. I'll go to 1.425v to see what that results in.

ETA3. Cores #3 and #5 failed on Test 10. Core #6 was lagging behind the rest and eventually failed on Test 8 while cores #1, 2, and 4 were moving on to Test 12. Went ahead and stopped the test.
