Corsair 900D Question!

Thread Starter
Hey guys, planning on getting this case soon. It says that the Corsair Obsidian 900D has 15 total fan mount locations. Considering this, does the Corsair 900D come with any LED case fans? If so, are they any good or should I replace them? I'm planning on putting a Swiftech H220 AIO water cooling kit at the top. So I'm assuming there is then an additional 2 fan mount locations at the top? If so, what size fans for these additional two fan mount locations at the top of the case? There is one fan mount location at the back of the case, what size is this? The front intake of the case there are three fan mount locations what size are these as well? I'm guessing three fan mount locations on the HDD cages, what size? and four fan mount locations on the bottom of the case? what size?

If you are going to be getting an 900D you should not be using an AIO cooler. You should have a custom loop in that beast of a case. It has room for 2 480mm radiators and you are only going to be using 240mm of that space. You would be better off getting a smaller case and not spending a lot of money of an 900D when you are not going to be using a lot of the space that it has.

That thread also would be the best place to ask more questions about your planned build - lots of well-informed liquid-cooling enthusiasts over there.

That was kind of rude. I'm purchasing this case to future proof myself plus I want lots of space to work with and the modification abilities the case itself has. All I need to know is if this case comes with all 15 fans? It says in the specifications that it has15 fan mounting locations. If it doesn't come with all the fans, I just need to know what sizes the fans are and in what locations of the case in order to figure out purchasing some nice LED blue case fans.

In that post it states that the case comes with:

3x front intake 120mm fans (AF120L)

1x 140mm rear exhaust fan (AF140L)

BTW, they are not LED fans, Corsair only makes 200mm LED fans.

They are similar to the Air Series fans but do not have colored rings or rubber pads on the corners.

They are black with gray blades and more info is not yet available.

You can use a 120mm in the rear also, fan holes are there for both.

Up top there are fan mounts for 4x 120mm fans, up front for 3x 120mm fans.

The HDD cage fans will be 120mm in size and there are 4x 120mm fan mounts at the bottom sides.

I mentioned that post because it lists the most up-to-date information that has been gathered, along with many clear images of the 900D.

The case has not been fully reviewed anywhere yet, so information is somewhat limited.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from more threads on the 900D, it's just that I read the original Godzilla thread from beginning to current day as it was posted and it's so long that it really does have practically every question answered in it somewhere.

I've forgotten as much as I've retained!

Again, the main problem is that a full print review isn't online yet - nor is there and actual product page, just a teaser page at Corsair.

The community is getting the majority of its information direct from Corsair George, the man behind the whole project.

Master Freez has written that one post to try and gather all info in one place.

BTW - Corsair George has stated that the case is designed to be an excellent air-cooling case as well as a liquid-cooling case, so anyone that wants to build it using air or a mixture of air and liquid (CPU on air, GPU on liquid, etc.) shouldn't be worried at all.

As long as you want it and have the funds, do as you like!

As for using other fans instead of the factory ones, wait until we hear about the new Corsair case fans that are included before making your decision.

They may be very good... of course if you want LED, you may have to go with another brand.

I am also not going to build a custom loop right now just a closed loop for the CPU to start. No one can or should tell you what to get.
I also have a question
Is anyone using the hot swap HDD bays? I have no intention of hot swapping as I will be using two pair of Raided drives (one pair SSD's) but I am considering using the hot swap bay just to reduce the number of cables,
Are any of you using the hot swap bay and if so are you using it for standard permanent drive mounts or are you hot swapping?
Any comments, cautions or suggestions?
