After Final Fantasy IV released last year for smart phones a teaser image for Final Fantasy V arrived, but now Square Enix has revealed details on a new port for the game. Instead of getting a 3D remake Final Fantasy V will be getting all the content from the Gameboy Advance version of the game, but with an updated visuals similar from Final Fantasy Dimensions.

FInal Fantasy V was my favorite Final Fantasy.

I really liked the job system. It's reminiscent of old school AD&D dual-classing, and allowed for a lot of versatility in character advancement with out the absurdly complex systems certain later FF games used.

Story was decent as well, though not earth shattering.

FFV was my least favorite of the ones I have played.

I prefer IV and VI myself.

I played FF5 for maybe two hours or so on the Playstation release, and I gave up. The story and writing was just so, so bad. The pirate girl ran around saying "D'jar!" So, so corny. And there was something to the effect that the princess (or whatever) and the pirate chick figured out that they were long lost sisters, or something like that...I can get on board with corny plot twists, but right at the start of the game? There's no drama if two characters we haven't had time to learn anything about have that sort of revelation, it has to come much later!

I remember everyone loved the job system, but I wasn't particularly impressed. Maybe it was innovative when FF5 was first released, but I obviously got it much later and had experienced similar and better systems for quite some time. May be a personal taste issue, I very much prefer the "skill usage" systems pioneered in Ultima Underworld and Ultima Online...it's more like Elder Scrolls Oblivion, if you don't know those old games. Use your sword, you get better at swords. The notions of "jobs" or "classes" always seemed artificial to me.
