I'm having problems with my Samung SSD on a Intel platform

Thread Starter
This is my PC specs:

Intel 3770K
ASUS P8Z77-V motherboard
Samsung SSD 128GB
Western digital HDD 500GB
AMD HD 7950
Corsair XMS 3 8GB

Now here is the problem. I installed Windows 7 on Samsung SSD and installed all the drivers from the disk. Everything was fine until I tried to install Intel Rapid Storage Technology, which gave me a BSOD. So I decided not install Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. Now, I upgraded to Windows 8. Once again I installed Windows 8 on the Samsung SSD. Now this time when I tried to install all the chipset, Intel Rapid Storage Technology, AsMedia SATA III drivers, I get a BSOD or it will get stuck on boot-up screen. I downloaded all the new drivers for Windows 8

I thought it may be related to my Samsung SSD, so I switched to my Western Digital as my OS drive. All the problems I was experiencing did not occur on the Western Digital HDD. Every update install without any trouble.

So it appears this has to do with my Samsung SSD. Now, I don’t know what’s wrong with it. Is it not compatible with Intel’s drivers?

Edit: My SATA is in AHIC mode

Have you made sure you have the SSD plugged into one of the grey SATA ports on your motherboard? Not the blue or navy blue ones.

There shouldn't be any compatibility issues with the drive, but there could be an issue with the drivers and Win 8 (doubtful, but possible). Does it work if you don't use the Intel Rapid Storage software - it's not really needed, so if it works without it just don't install it. You can also check and see if there is a firmware upgrade available for the SSD. Did you do a new install of Win 8, or an upgrade?
