Dual Geforce Titans; What do you think?

LONG DETAILED EXPLANATION:

Sorry if I have wasted your time (most of you probably do not need apply), and I realize the thread topic is misleading but this problem has been killing me for I don't even know how long now. I am a skyrim modding enthusiast and I have pretty much made the game look way better than anything else out there right now, undisputed (although looks are of course subjective I believe most would agree with me). The problem is I get about 18 to 25 fps outdoors when I enable my grass mod, which combined with K ENB's AMAZING effects/DOF is literally addicting to look at. I could, and occasionally do, just run around the highly grassed areas in awe and stare at my screen out of the pure aesthetic ridiculousness. Your first bit of advice may be "get a better gpu!" Well, I have a freaking geforce Titan, which is THE BEST gpu. I am considering getting another just to barely make the playable framerate level of 30 fps with this mod (keep in mind those fps scores were at 720p: it looks so good to me I am willing to play in a window a fifth the size of my 1440p screen, if even). But, when I had 2 7970 ghz cards (which I hate compared to my titan, but that is a whole other thread) adding the second did nothing but get me 20 instead of 15 fps, and added in unbearable micro stutter. I would like anyone with 2 or more gtx titans to please please PRETTY PLEASE WITH A CHERRY ON TOP (I WILL GIVE YOU SEX?!) download a few mods and test it for me. Please, i only need you to install 2 mods and I will be able to deduce the rest (I can take into account the percentage fps lost with my innumerable texture mods and ini edits without anyone's help). Basically just copy and paste two things into your skyrim data folder, I will send you my save, and when you load it with fraps move around a bit and tell me the min and avg. You can even estimate them. Basically all i care about is that it stays at 30 or higher and feels fairly smooth.

SHORT EASY EXPLANATION:

If you have or know anyone who has two or more Geforce Titans please please PLEASE (did I say please?) just do me a quick favor. You just have to install two very easy to install mods, use the save I will send you (so you will be in the spot I know is the most demanding with the mods and can compare fps easier) and tell me if you stayed above 30 and it felt smooth or not. This is really important.

JUST TO SHOW YOU THE FPS IMPACT (this is without any other mods but a less demanding grass one than I use)

after: http://www.abload.de/img/tesv2013-03-1422-41-1bale8.jpg

I will be back to respond to comments at 9 pm (going to the gym) and if I have any takers I will reply to them with contact info immediately.

Again, this is super important to me (probably more than it should be) and I would appreciate your help!

Very much interrested but i'm sorry i do not own a beast graphics card like a Titan, let alone 2. Very very interrested in the whole modding of skyrim tho. I love eye candy, if you manage to get something done, please send me some pics or something. Or maybe link a video that shows what it is you're aiming for.

Maybe you could ask someone that runs 680 Tri-SLI. I'm guessing it's slightly better then Titans SLI but it could give you a decent comparison. Taking in concideration that the Titan's are brand new and probably less used up onto this date then 680's. And also bare in mind that Titans probably are gonna need some tweaking in drivers, that may increase some games drastically. I've seen updates do as much as 40% fps increase which is huge!

Good luck!

I have two Titans water cooled but I don't have Skyrim, nor do I know how to mod it. Sorry.

I would guess though that if you are getting 18-25 FPS with just one Titan, a second should easily get you above the 30 FPS mark...

My skyrim is modded to hell and one 7970 runs it 60s indoors and 40-60 depending where im at.

I have all the lush mods, 4k-8k mods and an ENB so 1 titan proibably mid 50s-60 two 100% 60

Also im running @ 1440p, at 1080p I had 100% 60 fps

The reason why I am not so sure a second one would get me that extra 12 fps in really demanding spots is because the 7970 ghz cards I had scales so terribly. I am not sure if thaat is limited to AMD drivers or if skyrim really scales that bad with sli too. But then I ask myself why a 690, which is basically 2 680's seems to scale well. Then I ask again if maybe it is just that nvidia altered the drivers somehow to make it scale so well so 690 skyrim players would not feel liek they wasted money opr something and that 2 680's and therefore titans as well (although titan is admittedly new) would not scale as well.

Majin: You can delete it after you are finished if it tears you up inside, but pirating skyrim is very simple and even today it maintains multiple thousands of seeds due to how many people mess up with harder to install mods and need to re download it (and are too lazy to make a backup lol). I personally do not support pirating of any decent game worth the money, and I have legitimately have bought every elder scrolls/fallout game and dlc since morrowind. Thought I would put that out there. Also you do not need to worry about the mods installation it is as simple as copying the contents of a folder into another, ridiculously easy. Pirating is just as simple (again I do not support it for decent games I usually just use it to see if a game I am unfamiliar with is worth buying or not). If you would be so generous as to grant me this opprotunity just let me know in a comment below. Again, it is REALLY easy.

iMica: 90% of skyrim mods do not affect performance by any noticeable margin. But when you install a high quality ENB like Kyo's, edit your ini's to have shadows on land, grass, trees etc, have your shadowmap res turned to 8k shadows so they don't look pixelated, and have ugrids at 9 along with a grass mod so dense you cannot see the grounds texture, all those grass shadows begin to take a toll and your fps will constantly try to commit suicide. Without the grass I get a constant 60 in MOST areas. With it, well you get the idea. If you want to try it out, here it is: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/21525
Looking at those sceenshots I can tell you it looks like a different mod in game. They do not give a good representation of the thickness at all. Lush grass is barren compared to it. Try it in falkreath again with Kyo's ENB and grass shadows and see what happens.

@unseen: I am crossing my fingers for a driver update anywhere near that good lol. 680 tri sli does nto scale appropriately in most games and 2 titans would demolish them in most of the stuff I play. Thanks for the suggestion though. And I will happily send you some awesome screenies when this is all said and done. I actually had my HDD stolen at the airport recently and have yet to venture back into the grasslands yet but I may do it again today =)

Here's a question for you: did you play Skyrim in windowed mode with 7970 CF? Crossfire only works in full screen mode.

Send me the files, and directions on how to add the mod to the game and how to use your save file. When I have time I will run the tests for you. Make sure your directions are very clear and easy to understand.

CDMan, I love you. I will send you the stuff you need immediately.

Specops, I did occasionally and I did not know that. Thank you for the info (However even fullscreen the crossfire was TERRIBLE).

EDIT: I will have it all ready for you by 2:30pm today. I doubt you are waiting in anticipation but I thought I would let you know it will be a bit longer than you may have expected as something personal has come up.

I will send these to you in a pm as well but these are some very roughly modded screenies of around what it should look like. If you think you followed the directions right and it looks like the same approximate grass density and shadows etc then you probably did it right. I will work on getting you the saves next.
