Installation gone wrong?

Thread Starter
Hey. I just installed my new motherboard, case + psu. Everything seems to be working fine. Now I don't know whats going on. I installed everything with no problems until I tried to install my Sound Card. Everytime that the installation hits the audio drivers it will just die. reboot and so on. I don't know whats causing this. Any known problems with the soundcard I have and DFI boards? It worked perfectly fine before. I am lost and need sound lol

could be the sound card is not seated correctly try taking it out then back in

It kinda sounds like a bad card, or bad drivers, I would try to find an alternate version of the drivers first then if that doesnt work look into RMA'ing the card.

Beat me to it. Yea, give that a shot. Maybe you have to disable the onboard sound as well.

Well I did disable it before I did anything. I never had the soundcard for the mobo installed in the first place. Now here is what I tried. I installed the drivers with the soundcard disabled. Everything went fine but as soon as I got the message New Hardware Found: Wdm Sound Blaster blah blah. My system will freeze... bad soundcard? or am I just missing something. I really don't think that the soundcard is bad.

try downloading a PREVIOUS driver. You could have a conflict with the updated driver

Also....when you change that many parts...especially the motherboard, you'll have to reactivate. Best bet is to just format rather than re-activate. Have you done so?

Yeah I have completely reformatted and set up a new raid. I don't know whats going on. I hope this is able to be fixed rather sooner than later. I highly doubt that my card is bad. Is there any way to COMPLETELY remove the old soundblaster drivers? I still see them in device manager. but I don't see it in add or remove programs

Now I tried to install it on Safe Mode. The First time it just froze when it hit the audio drivers. The Second time when I only installed the Audio Drivers it went ok. It detected it. So I went back into normal mode and as soon as I boot up I get the message again ... Unknown audio device blah blah. Doesn't work no sound.... Any fix for this? What can I do LOST
