What are your brightness and contrast settings?

I've always been curious.
What are your settings, model, and your monitor's main use? Gaming, photoshop, watching my creepy hands on Youtube, etc.

I remember reading that your contrast is always supposed to be slightly higher than your brightness, but I have no idea if that's true or just an urban legend. tongue.gif

if you're curious as to whether or not your particular monitor(s) are setup correctly, windows 7 has built-in functionality

windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/calibrate-your-display

I've also ran the software at http://www.calibrize.com and its, well, free...but its a start

Samsung SyncMaster BX2440

I changed the settings myself to the most accurate and best for text reading.

Brightness depends on time of day and lights I have on because I have a large window next to me
Contrast 90
Sharpness 60

Red 43
Green 57
Blue 51

I'm next to a big window, and when using my computer in the day I keep down the blinds so less light comes through. And I usually keep a lamp lit behind my monitor somewhere in the night so my eyes don't feel strained. If I'm reading text on a white screen I change the setting to "standard" so that the brightness decreases and color temperature becomes warmer.

I wouldn't bother using the windows calibration test...you can go online and look up stuff like screen color and sharpness test.
