HP smart pin troubles.

Thread Starter
I'm trying to get a HP laptop motherboard to power up, problem is that it has a 'smart' pin that it needs to see the right signal before the laptop will turn on. I don't plan on charging a battery with it, I just want it to run as a low power desktop.
Anybody know what HP laptops are expecting on the smart pin?

After some looking around, it seems that it's the same 19v from the psu but with a resistor in series. I found too many opinions on the size, some were 1k, others 200k or 390k. Don't know how attached you are to it to test different ones, but might be worth a shot.

The third pin is simply to let the laptop know if it has enough power coming in to charge the battery or not.
