Radiator qty and sizing

Thread Starter
So, I'm greedily eyeing the 900D, like I imagine everyone else is here, and my thoughts are turning to what I want to put in it for radiators.

My planned hardware is a single i5-3570K clocked to the max with dual SLI GTX 680 similarly clocked as high as can stably go. Two loops, of course.
I'm thinking 4.120mm on the top in push/pull, but am having a hard time deciding on the second radiator for the GPU loop. Go with another 4.120 on the side of the bottom compartment, like Corsair did with their prototype?

My previous machine had a 3.120 and a 1.140 in a single loop with similar hardware, but I wasn't overclocking.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Don't go two loops for CPU + 2 x GPUs, waste of space and money. A 360 and 120 will be plenty for this...or two 240mm

OK, so a 360 up top, and a 120 in the lower compartment, or a 140 on the rear 140mm case spot?

Oh, and I used to buy from Danger Den a lot, are they coming back? I have one of their CPX pumps on my current rig that I'm going to replace.

The Corsair 900D is a huge case, are you sure you need that big and that expensive?

For watercooling parts, I love: www.performance-pcs.com and www.frozencpu.com (I prefer PPCs)

Danger Den is gone since November

If you're only planning on a 360mm and a 120mm I wouldn't recommend the 900D. You could accomplish that loop with the 800D for about $90 less. With just a 360 and 120 a 900D would look pretty empty.

I have an 800D now, and while it is a nice case, it isn't really designed for multiple radiators.
As to the 900D, there being lots of space even with everything mounted is a good thing. I have huge hands, and all that space will be a welcome change after near on 2 decades of skinned and bruised knuckles. And, down the line, should I desire to re-purpose my game machine to a file server, I have the ability to put 9 HDs in it.
I had thought of replaceing the case my WHS 2011 machine is in with a 900D, in fact, but it's too much $$$.

Nothing in your rig really produces all that much heat. The 680s are voltage locked and don't really draw much juice. The 3570k doesn't dump much heat into the loop either.

I saw a guy on Hardforum use a single 120mm monsta in a small form factor pc to cool a 3570k and a single GTX680. Temps were surprisingly good too.

I really don't think that you need as much rad as you might think. Two loops is ridiculous overkill.
