Is 1.488v safe for a 24/7 overclock?

Thread Starter
I have a Phenom II X4 965 C3 that does not like low voltage so how long will it take 1.488v to degrade the chip, if it degrades it at all? My load temps are 49-50C while running Prime.

yes....up to 1.52 is safe for 24/7

No problem. Some people have been running 1.6v 24/7 with no sign of degradation.

I saw no degradation on either a 955 or 965 running at 1.54V with over 6 months of 24/7 use. I was below 57*C on both CPU.

Your mileage may vary, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I lost my oc on a 945 after about a year and a half at 1.45v, got some bad advice from some folks at anandtech and went with a somewhat cheap msi motherboard so poor power delivery may have contributed some to its early degradation. People made SOI out to be tank like but I found that to be false. My PII x6 has faired a lot better at 3.8ghz. Runs cool and no degradation in over a few years time, YMMV.

Okay, cool. I don't believe my chip can clock any higher with 1.52v than it can with 1.488v if I remember correctly. So this may be my 24/7 overclock if I verify that it is stable. I know for a fact that it is not stable with any less voltage at 3.8Ghz.

70C... Dang that's hot for an AMD CPU. Are you sure it didn't blow up =P. I'm kidding but that really makes me feel a little bit better about having these voltages and temps lol. But yeah, I plan on upgrading to the top of the line Steam Roller when it comes out after I verify that it is a worthy improvement of PD.

Oh, well I have an 80+ Gold PSU and 8+2 power phasing, I think the only things I have to worry about are temps and "did I get a good chip" lol. What voltages did you use on your X6? I'm just curious because I heard Thuban's take less voltage to get higher clock speeds.
