Best Fan Configuration for my HAF 912

Thread Starter
I have a Haf 912 case with 2700k, cooled with a H80 that is setup how Corsair recommends at the back of my case sucking in cool air.
I also have the stock 200mm haf fan at the front also sucking air in and another 120mm fan that came with the case on the side panel blowing onto 2x 560 ti's in sli.
This is my first real build.
I have also tried the side panel fan sucking air out and having it placed at the top sucking out both these resulted in around the same temp's 42-45 top card and 25-28 bottom but during a long Crysis 3 session the card temp maxes out at around 80 with these 2 setups and was 68-70 with it blowing on the GPU's.
I was just wondering if theres any other setups you guys recommend trying?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Wait, wait. So you have a front fan pulling air in and another in the back also pulling air in? I got that right or I read it wrong?
If you want the mount the H80 on the back pulling air in, set the top fans and side fan to also pull air in, and the front fans to push air out. You may also "turn over" (the fan is facing upwards inside the case) your PSU so you can make good use of all that positive air pressure.
You can also try mounting the H80 on top and set the fan to push. Rear fan would also be an exhaust, and the side and front fans all as intakes.
Or mount the H80 at the back with the fan pushing air out, top as exhaust, side and front as intakes.
You want air moving in and out of the case. Your video cards will get hot regardless, specially if you have them packed up in sli.

Front and side fans if you have side fans sould blow in

Top and rear fans sound blow out

If you change any of those fans around you will mess up your case airflow

H80 fan pulling in air is fine. Everything else looks fine as well. If every fan is doing intake, you make try placing an exhaust fan on top; just something running at modest speed. Monitor stuff with RealTemp/CoreTemp or the like, and If you're happy with temps and happy with sound level, you're good.

You can also set everything (front, side, top) to intake and have the fan on the H80 as exhaust.

Thanks for the advice guys, yeah i think i'll try some corsair af 120mm for the top sucking out the warm air.
I was also gonna replace the h80 fans with the corsair sp 120mm just to help with the noise. My temps atm are very good. the cpu is always 30 or bellow idle and doesnt go above 73 on full load.
The 2 gpu's idle at 25-30 and full load under 70.
I have just set an overclock to 4.5ghz using the turbo boost method and this has cooled down my system alot. Especially the cards now idle -10 lower than before.
Heres a link to the thread i followed for the overclock. http://www.overclock.net/t/1251630/official-msi-z77a-owners-discussion-information-support-thread-and-club-gd65-gd55-g45/100

It works, actually. There are a lot of fun stuff one can do with the airflow inside a PC case.

Hey guys I will be trying every way i can think of when i get these new fans, I will post the results the fun is in the testing/messing about smile.gif

You can add a 120mm fan behind the hdd cages blowing directly at the cards. You can attach it with zip ties. That's if your front fan remains intake. I don't think it will hurt your cpu temps much if you have the H80 in the back as the only exhaust and every thing else intake. If you don't mind the noise, slap some ultra kaze 3000 on the side and watch your temps fall. That's what I did for a while for my sli 680s before I moved my gaming rig to a corsair 600T
