Best Fan Configuration for my HAF 912 - Page 2

Had the best temps with this setup.

Zalman CPU Cooler
2x 80CFM intake 120mm in the front
2x 80CFM exhaust 120mm on the top
1x low CFM intake on back

I found the side panel fan to be pointless and it didnt benefit my video card at all. However I had the Zalman CPU cooler which sucked up the excess heat from the video card and forced it into the top exhaust fans. But since you dont I would keep it as is.

Just keep the front and side fans intake and the top fans exhaust. Do whatever you want with the rear fan.

BTW are your video cards reference or non reference cards?

That's pretty much how I have it now. Except my Frio is front to back. When I had the Freezer 13 Pro in there case temps where actually a bit lower (that cooler mounts with a vertical orientation). Now my CPU is cooler but the case temps (and therefore HDD and GPU) temps are like 3*C warmer. Meh. And yeah, the side fan is rather useless on these cases. Can't mount a high speed/pressure fan there due to rattling and that horrible stamped metal grill. CM should have gone with a 200mm port instead; 200mm fans are rather good as side intakes.

Yea part of the reason why I scrapped the side fan is because the side panel was like a dang guitar string. Fan vibration just resonated through the whole thing. Luckily you can get by without it. Even without the side fan temps were always pretty good when I had this case.

I gotta say when I switched to the Raven RV02 and Corsair H70 I was expecting a way bigger improvement than I got (maybe me being wishful or naive).
GPU idle went down 5*c to 30*c
CPU idle went down 1*c to 29*c

I dont remember the load improvement, but basically owning the HAF 912 proved to me you dont need a huge tower to get good airflow. Get some high speed fans and a fan controller and youre good to go.

When I had an Ultra Kaze on my side port, I got rubber washers from home depot to separate the fan from the side panel and there was no rattling for me

1x200mm front intake
1x120mm in front drive bay intake (under dvd drive)
1x200mm top intake
side none (blocked off)
rear none (fan mount mesh cut-out)
pcie brackets removed

In my HAF932 i used to run the rad on top vents acculy, and it was setup as intake so i would get cold air onto the rad, and i got better temps on the watercooled parts than when i used to run it as exhaust.

Hot air rises up if you have a intake fan in the top you mess up the airflow

So what you really are doing is forcing the hot air in the case down below the rear outtake fan
