how come the vision and scale for this game is so much larger than anything we have seen on pc?

even crysis 3 is overall smaller feeling and artistically not as accomplished

Probably because Sony are throwing money and weight behind it, they've been chasing a 'halo' game every since the first Halo

Coding is much more roar and direct into the hardware, making it naturally more rewarding than coding for PC, but i think the main reason is because they've got Sony behind them, throwing money at them like they throwing smarties.

Cool, all I need now is an announcement of Little Big Planet 3 and I'll be broke.

Because "consoles" in general are significantly more efficient at computing then desktops...it has always been like this. The 360 could handle chunking with something like 5-8x more efficient then running it natively on a desktop. Sure, the raw horse power is less, meaning that, sure, the resolution and texture detail is quite limited to disk space and ram limitations, but the developers can take advantage of certain hardware capabilities of the card itself and push those to it's limits. With the amount cores onboard, physics and volumetric drawing is much easier. They have, what, 8 cores plus a mid-range card to play with while desktop optimization has to account for 3 massively different GPU designs and make sure their games work on a single core.

But given how we have x86 in these puppies, we're probably going to start seeing this, but more, on the PC very soon. Developers can push the PC much further, but usually don't given the time constraints in optimizing and code conversion. But now that they follow the same language, it's going to make one heck of a difference.

I am happy to see that its mostly finished so early. Hopefully that means more time to polish the game and whatnot. I don't want another Killzone 3 quality game.

Should be a good game, I am looking forward to the PS4.

Excellent, I've never been a fan of KZ or even PS for that matter, but I'm looking forward to picking both up later this year.
