i7 930 overclocking help

Thread Starter
Ok, so a few months ago, I decided it was time to overclock my CPU. I followed the guide on this forum and got it to 4.0ghz. It has been stable and have not had any problems with it. Well I finally have some free time and was hoping to push it up to 4.2ghz for a number of reasons. The first reason is so that I can get my memory back up to 1600mhz. The second reason is that I am running some pretty cpu intensive games (crysis 3) and was hoping to squeeze out a bit more performance wit eyefinity and all. I have messed around with voltages a little but can't seem to get past 4.0ghz. I took some pics of my BIOS settings. Let me know what you guys think.

Can you fill out your system specs? What board, and what kind of cooling do you have?

Check out these links:

http://www.overclock.net/t/759428/tut-gigabyte-ud3r-x58-overclock-your-i7-c0-to-4-0-ghz/0_50

You'll want BCLK to 191, multiplier set to 21. You'll need to follow the guides to figure out what type of voltages you need for your chip.

Aim for 4GHZ OC though.

I'm not familiar with that board.

Are you able to change the Vcore on it? See if you can still get 4.0 with a lower vcore.

Here's a guide to help you understand overclocking settings.
http://www.overclock.net/t/538439/guide-to-overclocking-the-core-i7-920-or-930-to-4-0ghz/

What kind of temps are you getting at full load now?

The key to overclocking it is to go up in increments, aim for 4.1 stable first ( 195 x 21 ), then work your way up to 4.2 ( 200 x 21 )

Check out the 2nd post in this thread for further settings you could use:
